  • Motherboard RAID options

I'm putting together a new system for the sole purpose of data storage. Ideally, this is what I'd like to accomplish:

Four 1.5 TB hard drives in RAID 5 (data storage)
One 1 TB hard drive non raid (Operating System)

This is the motherboard I selected:

    Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TForce TF720 A2+ AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 720a ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

It supports RAID 5 but there are a few things I'm not clear on. Are all six of the SATA ports capable of being used for RAID drives? From what I've read in the comments it sounds like the two red ports are the only ones you can use RAID on. Can those ports only be used in a RAID or can I connect the 1 TB drive to one of them and the four 1.5 TB drives to the yellow colored ports.

I understand most people won't be familiar with this specific mobo but all the ones I'm looking at have the same attributes: Six SATA ports, supports RAID 0/1/0+1/5. Some of them have four ports of one color and 2 ports of another color. Some of them have six ports all the same color.
