GA-EX58-UD5 and XP Installation

Hello,

I have bought a motherboard GA-EX58-UD5.
I have also a Samsung Spinpoint F1 S-ATA - 1000 Go - 32 Mo SATA.

I plan to install Windows XP.
The problem is that I have no floppy (used for Sata driver)
Is there a way in bios configuration to make believe to XP
that my hard disk is an IDE and not a SATA?
I know this is possible on some motherboards.

You shouldn't need a driver unless your planning on using apci for the drives. With benching my drives vs apci/sata ide mode, there no difference, even though everyone says it better. Id just go grab a copy of nlite, slipstream the intel chipset drivers into it, and burn a new install cd. Though slipstreaming and install intel chipset tacks on about another 20 mins to the install.

Yes, no drivers are needed. You do however have to have a XP SP1 or greater install disk to use in a PCI-E system. So be sure you at least have that

As far as Settings go, Plug your Hard drive into the First (SATA2_0) Intel (blue/purple) Port and then In Integrated Peripherals BIOS page set your settings to this >>>

SATA RAID/AHCI Mode (Intel ICH10R Southbridge) ............. Disabled <<< This allows SATA Drives to run in PATA/EIDE mode

SATA Port0-3 Native Mode ................................... Enabled (or Disabled, both will work)

The below are only for if you have a IDE Device, otherwise you can disable them
Onboard SATA/IDE Device (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ............. Enabled
Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ........... IDE
