    I have been able to run one dual channel kit from gskill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ for the last couple of weeks with no problems.

    When I bought the first kit, it died within a week. Instead of being without ram, I bought another set from a well known online site, rma the first kit and ran the second kit that I mentioned above for a couple of weeks.

    I just received the rma kit and I just throw them in without changing northbridge voltage or ram voltage. Within a short period of time, I started getting Event id 4101.

    I surfed and found problems with ram, so, I did what I should have in the first place, ran prime95 and it failed. So, I talked with gkill, they suggested to up the northbridge by .1 and up the voltage to 2.2. So, I started working with the voltages and such.

    Right now, I have the FSB at 400, cpu multiplier at 9.5 (cpu at 3.8), ram multipier at 2.5 (ram at 1000), cpu voltage at 1.24375, mch at auto and dram at 2.1 volts.

    During testing with second kit installed, 4x2GB, each kit in its own slot, first kit in 1 and 3, second kit in 2 and 4. I bumped the voltages up a little in each category and it keeps failing. I finally stopped at cpu at 1.25625, mch core at 1.32, dram at 2.2.

    I am at the point of either rma both kits and going with another maker or be satisfied with just one kit and dealing with 4 gigs of memory.

    Any help would be greately apreciated, dont know where to go from here.

    Does anybody have any suggestions, I dont know if I should boycot this motherboard, ram or both. About ready to give up on gigabyte and gskill.

      Using the 266/1066 strap is your issue I would imagine. You should be using B or D Multi's for 400 FSB, especially with 8GB. I would also be using 1.22-1.34 or so for your NB depending on Multi Chosen and other timings.

      So please do test with that range of MCH Voltage, and using the straps mentioned. Try 2.40B or 2.66D

      Here is the Ram Multi's I suggest you work with, with D strap being the most stable at 400+ FSB generally (Depends on ram IC Quality) >>>



      I would also suggest keeping your ram voltage at or around 2.1, 2.2 is pretty hot and generally not needed until you pass 1100Mhz

        When I'm running one set of memory, I'm running the FSB at 400, multi at 2.5 for memory at 1k and MCH at auto, it runs fine.

        I've been testing different voltages on the MCH, with the same FSB at 400 (cpu at 3.8 with 9.5 cpu multi) and multi at 2.5 for memory at 1k, I have to take the MCH up to 1.34 to get it stable with two sets of memory (4 x 2gb). I ran prime95 for five hours with no problems.

        When I bump the FSB up to 425, it takes the MCH up to 1.38 to get it stable. The memory multiplier at 2.4 overclocks the memory to 1020 and it fails prime95 with the two sets of memory again. If I underclock the memory, set the memory multiplier at 2b, memory runs at 850, it passes prime95.

        My goal is a good, quick, stable build. My opinion so far would probably be the 3.8 cpu with memory at 1k, FSB at 400 with MCH at 1.34.

          Would you suggest a lower fsb to achieve a 4k mark or a higher fsb?

          If we stay with the 2d multiplier, a fsb will achieve 850 on the memory, if we choose this, should we tighten the timings? (4-4-4-12)

          or shoot for 500 fsb with 1000 memory with standard timing (5-5-5-15)

          What is better for temp measurement, real temp 2.70 or core temp 0.99.3. Core temp shows about 5 degrees celcius higher than real temp, under full load of prime95, real temp shows around 52 to 53 and core temp shows around 57 to 58

            Faster FSB For sure. But you could setup both as profiles in your BIOS and benchmark and compare them yourself. On the MAIN page of the BIOS F11 is save, and F12 is load

            The only real reason you see different temps is they both are using a different TJmax. Latest RealTemp should be about the same as core temp, but you have many more options in the settings.

            Using all those auto's is why you are failing at certain settings, and having to use so much voltage at others. Best to set things yourself for sure

              What I would like to do is get the fsb stable at 500 with the 2d memory strap. I'd be happy running the cpu around 4 to 4.25 ghz in a perfect world of course. I'm finding that the mch has to be around 1.34 at 400 and 1.38 at 425. What is the maximum voltage I would want to use on the mch and what settings do I change to get this stable at lower voltages?

              I will make sure I have the most recent real temp and calibrate it this evening.

                Heres where I'm at now, its been running with no errors for the last 3 hours prime95 stable. Going to game for a bit and then run prime95 over night, check it in the morning, then probably while i'm at work. How long should prime95 run to satisfy that its stable?

                oh, I removed two of the memory sticks to run at a lower, stable mch. I'm running 2x2gb of the gkill 8000 memory now.

                  Well 8-10 hours is a good run on prime blend. I have seen it fail at 12-16 though, so if you think you are good and stable a 24 hour run would prove it to you once you have the time

                  I would advise these changes from the above settings, if you get errors which I do suspect you will >>>

                    my computer crashed while gaming, so I dropped the cpu multiplier down to 7.5 running the cpu at 3.75 and ran over night, 6 hours and no crash. I'm going to bump the multiplier back to 8 and make the above changes.

                    When you talking about:

                    For 500 FSB set 1.24 or so since you are using a low vcore that should be good, but since your vcore is so low you may have to go over vcore. I use 1.28 for 450 FSB and 1.32 for 533+ FSB, but I do have to set my Vcore much higher then you do as my CPU is a volt hog!

                    This is the cpu vcore I am assuming, I will bump the cpu vcore up to 1.32.

                    I changed both driving profiles to 1066, cpu clock sku to 0 and mch clock to 0. It took 1.52 in the cpu termination voltage to get my computer to boot properly without bsod. I'll start prime95 at 1.52 cpu term voltage. At 1.52 up to 1.56, it fails prime95 but my vcore is still low. I will continue to try higher vcores. What is the max I want the cpu termination voltage at?

                      my vcore is at 1.32500 and my termination is at 1.56 and its constantly failing within minutes of prime95. Is my vcore too low or do I keep going adding voltage to cpu termination?

                        I tried the 1.32 vcore and was curious about 1.58 cpu term voltage and while running prime95, the temps went up to the upper 60's, 68ish instead of running 58ish as before. so I stopped the tested and wanted to wait for your input. I'm almost thinking of dropping the fsb (maybe 475) so I can drop the mch and hopefully the cpu term voltage. What is affecting or causing the cpu term to be so high and what should it be? Kind of lost.

                          I'll have to work on tightening the memory values next for this build. Would like a 4k+ overclock but i'm starting to wonder if its worth it.

                          I was also doing some more reading on the Vtt, which is the termination voltage between the cpu and mch. To me, it seems it would be better while trying to find a working fsb to set the mch to auto first while trying to find a stable Vtt (lower the better, heard anything over 1.4 is dangerous, for my chip, its 1.14 min, 1.2 typical (which you usually see when you load optimal default), 1.26 max and then what they call the absolute max of 1.45 ) and then find the stable mch, since it seems we have more flexibility with mch, which i'll have to find out what the maximum mch is for the ud3r board.

                          Also, do you see people using more than 1.5 for the cpu pll, I have seen people set this up to 1.61 also, depending on the higher fsb.

                            I've tried eveything, I cant get it stable over 3.8 ghz.

                            I tried 425 fsb, cpu multiplier at 9.5 for 4.0375 but I even tried the cpu multiplier at 9 for 3.825 with memory multiplier to 2.00D in both cases, same settings for everything else as previous settings documented before this post, cpu vcore at 1.26, cpu term at 1.26 and mch at 1.26, prime 95 fails in an hour. Any fsb over 400 fails.

                            Nothing i've tried will get it over 3.8 stable.
