    Mobo: GA-EP45-UD3P
    CPU: Intel Q6600
    Memory: G. Skill [2048MB x 2] DDR2-1066 PC2-8500
CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120 [Modified the mobo support clips to clear the board heat sink covers. Used a grinder.]
    Case: Cooler Master HAF 932

Board is overclocked and running stable. Used MemTest86 for 20 passes, Intel Burn Test for 20 passes, and Prime95 small and large FFT. Highest temps during Intel Burn Test 74 degrees Celsius. Idle temp 28, 29, and 30 degrees Celsius.

I will try to tighten the memory timing a bit.

    Re: I Think I'm Finished: GA-EP45-UD3P

Here is an update. Tightened the memory timings and increased the CPU Frequency. Changed the CPU Vcore. Changed Static tRead Values for both channels. The machine is running stable after stressing with Intel Burn Test, Prime95, and Super Pi.

During the Intel Burn Test, the CPU temps were as high as 75 degrees Celsius. The Prime95 CPU temps were as high as 66 degrees Celsius. While using Super PI, the temps dropped down to 34 degrees Celsius.

While idle, the CPU temps are fluctuating between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. The ambient temperature is 23.89 degrees Celsius.

My system is air cooled. I left the fans that came with the Cooler Master HAF 932 intact. There are three fans on the case that are nine blade fans sized at 230mm. Two are intake fans and one is a top mounted exhaust. The exhaust fan on the rear has nine blades at 120mm. The only other fan is in the CPU cooler, Tuniq Tower 120.

        Re: I Think I'm Finished: GA-EP45-UD3P

        Hi Chucko.

CPU Vid? I wrote it down on paper before I installed it. Now I can't locate it. My desk is a real mess. I bought the CPU from NewEgg. It's a G0 revision and its a B stepping.

My gr8est fear was watching the display and seeing it go black while stressing the CPU and memory. I was using the Intel Burn Test, LinPack, and I got worried when the room began to smell as though I just turned everything on for the first time. You know that odor? The odor that smells like heated computer parts, well the machine was on for the last two weeks with a low level overclock. There was no reason for that odor to permeate the room. I looked at the temps, monitoring using EasyTune 6, and I see 75 degrees Celsius. I'm like *@*)*@@(&@)@+)$#"" oh no. Now I'm just sitting here waiting for this thing to just die.

Well, it didn't. I ran LinPack using stress level 1 for thirty passes, @ 69 to 75 degrees Celsius for over thirty minutes. Prime95 doesn't cause the components to heat up that much. It fluctuates around 62 to 66 degrees Celsius.

The temps I posted earlier are incorrect. The Easy Tuner 6 monitor is inaccurate. The following information is from the BIOS. Please take a look at the provided attachment for the fan speeds and cpu and motherboard temps. The attachment displays the idle temps.

I would hate to buy 1066 ram and have to run it at 850 to have a stable cpu overclock. I would look at trying to up the ram speed.

                clo007,

Thanks for the info. Never really thought about it. I'm building another machine about two weeks from now after surgery. It's not life threatening. Job injury. I'm an electrician. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to share them. Thanks again.

Just tried it on the fly. Didn't work. I need more time than I have. Have to get ready for tomorrow. I can leave all the memory timings in auto. Leave the dram freq at 1066 and adjust the fsb for 533. Will have to lower the cpu clock ratio. I'll try it again in a few days.

                    Re: I Think I'm Finished: GA-EP45-UD3P

Adding to your last suggestion, I won't leave the timings in auto, not all of them. CL5, 5, 5, 5, 15 I'll make that such and leave the rest in auto.

I don't see a setting for a system multiplier 2.4 D. Are we discussing the same board? Maybe you meant 2.4B.

In order to keep the 1:1 ratio, the settings would have to be as follows:

                    CPU Clock Ratio 6x
                    CPU Freq 3.19GHz (533 x 6)
                    CPU Host Freq 533MHz
                    MCH Freq Latch 333MHz
                    Memory Multiplier 2.00B
                    Memory Freq 1066

                    G. Skill DDR2-800 may be the way to go. When I recuperate, I'll order two sticks for a total of 4GB.
Gotta go. Have to be up in five hours to get ready to go to the hospital. Talk to you in a few days. Stay well.

Leave the frequency latch on auto and it will display all of the different latches. There should be a 2.4D. With your CPU I would be running a 333mhz latch vs a 400mhz latch anyways.

I already went down that avenue. No such animal.

                        2.5A, 3A, 4A, 2B, 2.4B, 3.2B 4B, 2.66C, 3.33C, and 4C

clo007, there's no problem. I'll play with it. That's what it's all about.

Anyway, just back from the hospital. Had general anesthesia. My head is still feeling that gentle spin. I'm going to lay down. I'll be back on in about an hour.

Well that is odd. Anyways, I am saying just use the 2.4b. it really is no difference with running a 333 strap vs 400 strap.

did you have to tweak your board to run the 2 sticks of ram?

If so what were your bios setting for that/or before you over clocked?
