  • help required in installing 64bit os from 32bit

    have an acer aspire 6920g.
i'm fairly sure that it is capeable of running a 64bit os even though it's running a 32bit at the moment.
i cannot install a 64bit disc from the current os directly or from the hard drive when it has been re-formatted.
can anyone come up with a solution please ?

You will not be able to do that, you must boot straight into the 64-bit setup.exe (it's also likely that you'll loose data unless you have a partitioned or external hard drive to dual boot from so back your data up).

The problem is you have a pre-formatted HD you are trying to install the 64Bit OS on it. What you do is, using the setup disk, choose repair when you see that option. Then you want to delete the partition, then allow the setup to create the partition and format the drive for you. I've had this problem before. Even when I had the HD formatted by another disc, for some reason the install will fail on an already formatted drive.
