  • Wierd Motherboard Issue

Ok i believe there is a setting im missing on my MB thats causing a wierd boot problem. Im currently running a vista machine with EP45-DS3L. Ever since build back in oct 2008 my computer randomly boots, what i mean by this is sometimes i will boot and nothing will go to monitor computer fires up but nothing seems to load, cd drives fire like normal, basically the only way i can get it to run is to hit the restart button and start button multiple times, sometimes it will restart and not load, sometimes it will load. i have avoided the problem because it doesn't do it on a windows restart and i very rarely ever completely shut down the system. but this only happens from a cold boot, i think there must be some kind of MB issue at play here or an option i didn't select.

    Thx

Possibly not grounded well? Did your power supply come with a ground cable? My Mushkin has one and the directions read something like "..screw the grounding cable firmly to the motherboard..". Mine is between the screw head and the top right most screw (closest to the optical drive). Not saying this is 100% it. Definitely check to make sure everything is tight. When it's off try holding in the Power button on your case for 10 seconds. Release - wait a few seconds - fire it up. Hope that works. Maybe have a bit of static electricity built up. Try pulling out all the ram except the one furthest from the CPU (closest to the front of the case) and put it in the first slot then try to boot. Have you changed anything in the BIOS?

    All the best,

    Speedy

the wierd thing is that it works just fine, i think i just did something wrong in the bios when i did the build. because its like sometime it just doesn't load the mb or harddrive

Have you updated the BIOS since the initial build?
