    Hi!
    Please, help,
    just intalled new memory PVS28G6400ELK 4x4Gb

    3.2Ghz (8x400 Vcore 1.3500, 5-5-5-15) works fine

    want to make 3.4Gz, but 8x425 dint work ok, booting into OS ok,
    but when i runjing 4 thread with 100% load it hangs,
    Cooler is Big Typhoon VX, temp is around 48-50C.
    PCI freq locked to 100

    Please, advice additional params for such m/b model.
    tanx!

    Re: Problem overclock Q6600 + EP45-DS3l

    Why not use 8.5x400?
    Your memory may be of a problem, it's only DDR-800, and you got a lot of it.
    Please post your settings using the template in this post or the one below, and a screen caprure of EasyTune advanced voltage tab.

      Holy Ram Batman. With that amount of ram you will most likely need to bump up your MCH voltage a tad. But I would deffinatly go with Chike on this one. run with 400Mhz FSB that will give you a nice 1:1 Ram : FSB Ratio. Find a template and fill it out if you still have trouble. But you will need to raise your MCH voltage a little I think to run that much ram.

          Re: Problem overclock Q6600 + EP45-DS3l

          The 0.5 steps are done with Fine CPU Clock Ratio, is it disabled?

          PCI Express Clock Drive.................: 700 mV suggests you have not began with oprimized defaults, it is suggested to OC with optimized defaults loaded first.

          Leaving CPU PLL on auto is not recommended, it overvolt too much when OCed, set it manually to default value for a start.

          Could you post EsyTune advanced voltage tab, and MemSet main and spd(click spf) screen captures?

              Re: Problem overclock Q6600 + EP45-DS3l

              .5 is not available for Q6600 CPU's.

              Please start over using optimized defaults, not fail safe. Then you should have much more luck.

              You may need to try this
              CPU Termination…..... 1.200V*.......:1.200 << Set 1.225-1.3
              CPU PLL…………………....1.500V*.......: Auto << Set 1.4-1.6

              MCH/ICH
              MCH Core…………….....1.100V...........: Auto << Set 1.24-1.32, also try less than 1.1 if none of these help

                tanx, will try now
                What's better to start

                9x400 = 3.6
                9x378 = 3.4
                8x425 = 3.4

                Think, FSB:RAM 1:1 is better than 1:1.xx so 800:800 can be good.

                  Tried :
                  9x400 = 3.600
                  Vcore 1.45
                  Pll 1.550

                  Mem Vcore 1.94

                  Boot into OS normally, then after minute had PAGE FAULG BSOD error 50.

                  Now at 8x425 =3.400 with same params.

                      Any chance to reach the 3.6 ?
                      9x400 or 8x350 ?

                        3.6 may be possible for you, not all will do it though. I would use 450x8 myself, but you can also test 9x400

                        3.6Ghz may be pushing your CPU a little, but if temps are good and your voltages do not have to go way high your hardware will be fine

                        Are you folding, or did you mean some other calculations?

                          Do i need to ajust some memory timings/voltage?

                          Now at 3.4 Temp is 61-63 with 100% load,

                          About folding - i making similar calculations, like RSALS

                              The BSOD happens after booting os, at about 1-2 minutes aster logging on.
                              Will post all params soon, testing now.

                              About MEM timings, in official datasheet they are:
                              5-5-5-12
                              but as i see in MEMSET or SPD:
                              5-5-5-15 for 400 profile
                              and
                              6-5-5-15 for same 400 profile too

                              maybe it's possible to adjust a little?
                              for example
                              4-4-4-12 ?
