  • overclock problem with win 7

I'm just trying to figure out why I have to run stock settings in my bios for windows 7 to recognize my chipset driver and video card driver. When I load my overclock settings in my bios and then boot to windows 7 (I am dual booting XP and 7) my chipset and video card drivers are nowhere to be found in the device manager, but when I go to load optimized defaults in my bios, I go to boot back to 7 and what do you know, I go to device manager and both chipset and video drivers are there. MB rev. 1.1 and bios is F7.

I first posted this problem at the windows 7 forums. Cause I thought that it might be windows 7 problem because I have no problems with XP with my cpu being OC'ed. One person on there said it might be a bios problem and to update my bios. So that's why I'm posting over here.

thats most likely the cause as windows can get confused even with seperate partitions, its best to buy second hard drive and install them on seperate hd's i dont have any problems with mine

I would venture to say it's more of a driver/bios issue. I propose you update to the latest bios (beta sticky (F10f) here in these forums and probably your best bet for Win 7) for your board along with any Win 7 compatable drivers. Even chip set.

Ya, I probably should update my bios anyway.

Re: overclock problem with win 7

Have you tried to download the latest drivers from the manifcturers website, ie Intel and Nvidia. I had some dramas with windows 7 loosing chipset drivers on my X48 board but once I updated them they seem to be fine. If you have tried this then use windows update to install the drivers that windows thinks you need. This may be a solution.

Let us know if you need more help with this. Always start with optimized defaults, then go from there in the BIOS

Alright. I going to go ahead and update my bios. I guess the F10f beta bios nobody is having trouble with?

Alright. This will be my first time updating this bios. F7 is what it had on it when I first bought it.

Success! I flashed bios to F10f without any problems. I was getting alittle scared there for a minute because this was my first time and everytime I try to make something work better something always messes up.
