  • eXtreme HardDrive?

I have been able to find little to no information on this motherboard feaure; how does it work and how do I use it?

Is it a type of raid setup? Does that mean I have to configure it (enable it) before installing the OS...? Or, can I "simply add a new HD" at a later date and switch it on? Does it have to be the same size? type? What exactly does XHD do to provide its performance improvement?

    thanks

Yes, it's an easier, less configurable, dumbed down form of RAID. Not worth using over the standard Intel RAID BIOS. You need total control if using RAID. Also making setting up a RAID0 array is asking for trouble. If someone knows so little about RAID that they have to use XHD then they may not understand the implications of RAID 0 and that backups are vital due to increased chance of data loss. If one drive fails, all your data on the RAID0 array is gone.
