I am sincerely wishing I had converted to just SATA drives at this point. :(
specs:
ep45-ud3p
wolfdale @ 3.16 ghz (no OC)
4 gb of gskill ram
Antec Trio 550w PSU
1 WD SATA hard drive (OS windows vista ultimate 64bit)
1 Maxtor IDE hard drive 165gb (OS XP -- not used, this is a data volume) - this drive is plugged directly into the lone IDE port on the mobo.
PS: I found some information http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/dvd-...se-help-30273/
I noticed my storage controllers only shows: Microsoft iSCSI Initiator.
Is this a clue?
2 weeks ago, I had a evga 8800 gts go bad. No POST. I replaced it with a evga GTX 260. This new GTX 260 worked for about 2 weeks and then started artifacting like crazy and then the computer wouldn't POST anymore. Hmm, odd, 2 video cards dead in 2 weeks. I cleared CMOS while troubleshooting it and eventually got the GTX 260 replaced (after troubleshooting the motherboard!). Somewhere along the way, I loaded up "load optimized defaults" in the BIOS and this changed my configuration.
Everything appears to be working normally until I noticed that my IDE hard drive is no longer displayed in vista's device manager. it shows up in the BIOS as attached to IDE channel 4 slave. The SATA hard drive shows up as attached to IDE channel 1 master.
I've tried unplugging the SATA drive and the computer boots up using the IDE hard drive. If I plug in the SATA drive and alter the boot order to boot the IDE drive, the old IDE drive boots up to XP. If I put both in and run the SATA Drive to boot first, then I get into windows and it only detects the SATA Drive.
When I look in the windows device manager, I see IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
ATA Channel 0
ATA Channel 0
ATA Channel 0

ATA Channel 1
intel ich10 family 2 port serial ata storage controller 2 - 3a26

Disk drives:
WDC WD2500ks-00mjb0 ATA device
This seems to be a simple issue but I've been beating my head against this wall for several hours. I actually ran into this problem when I first setup this computer but cannot remember what eventually fixed it. Appreciate any advice.
