  • Recommendations for O/C

New here, first post. I switched from a e8400 to a Q9550 since Microcenter had a sale for $169, in the process, Abit IP35Pro took a dump. So, picked up a GA-EP45-UD3P after reading reviews. Overclocking is a little more complex on P45 chipset. After looking through forums, I have the settings below. I have ran prime 95 for 2 hours with no issues, as well as OCCT.

Normal temps around 36-40, and 55-60 under OCCT load.

I tried to go to 3.8 (8.5 x 450), and BSOD'd during OCCT. I think my memory may be limiting me. Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Re: Recommendations for O/C

I had 2 of these sticks at 1066 with 5-5-5-15 timings, though it was only 333FSB i doubt they are limiting you under 1000.
MCH & CPU Vcore/Termination may need to be increased.
Use CPU Ratio 8 and increase FSB, when you get 450 stable+- increase CPU Ratio.
Try MCH Core up to 1.26, CPU Termination up to 1.24, Vcore as needed for 3.8GHz.
Other settings may need tweaking, such as CPU/MCH Clock Skew, try 50/100 for each with the other on 0.
You can increase CPU PLL one notch "just in case".

Are all channel settings on auto?
