..: Computer Problem :.. (Help!)

For some months, my computer started to freeze like each day, and I needed to restart it everytime it did that.

And then, out of nowhere, the computer stopped working and it didn't turn on, so I thought it was the Power Supply, and I bought a new one, it also didn't work so I bought a new motherboard, taking advantage that it was really old anyways.

So I specifically bought the following items:

- Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (Motherboard)

- Kingwin 730W (Power supply)

When I installed everything, I turned the computer on and I get like 20 short beeps, and then 1 long beep, then it turns off, and it repeats it again and again.

I already tried uninstalling the video card, the RAM, and I thought that maybe it was the power supply, so I uninstalled and installed it on my brother's PC, and it was working.

I have an old Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHZ and I think this might be the problem, but I want to know if it's something else like the new motherboard, so I replace it before buying other things.

Can you find, or borrow another cpu to try? It sounds to me like you already narrowed down the issue. CPU.

So I took out the RAMs from the computer, and tested them with another computer, and the other PC didn't turn on, so I returned them to my PC, and I said..well...a last try:

And miraculously without a reason, the computer turned on and it works now?
Like WTF? I took out the RAMs and putted them in again like 12489895 times before, and now when I test them on a another computer and then put them again on mine, the computer starts working...hmm.??

So the problem was the RAMs? I don't want to have more problems later..but right now my PC is working...wow

I won't have any problems later?

It sounds like your memory, video card or psu cables weren't fully seated.

Hi nightshack I have found that if your BIOS has settings for the RAM that are not compatible (like speed too slow at 667MHz) then the PC will just reboot because thats the way its designed. See this post and read Gigabytes gone wild section http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...12/#post248082 The board will attempt to reset BIOS settings in attempt to start up. Maybe if you run memset CPUID or other tools listed in the OC guide it will give us some clues as to the settings that work. Take a screenshot and post it back here. Also It would help if you posted your BIOS settings by using one of the BIOS templates as well. I can link you to a template if you like
