  • X58A UD7 M.I.T bios reset.

Default M.I.T bios i.e standard .. if i shut down system and leave for a while then switch on i get the Double boot issue just like a bad over clock but the Mit is standard. same issue on F6 and new F7p beta.
the rest of bios settings are fine and not reset .
also i just Rmaed Corsair dominator thinking it was Mem and got Dominator gt mem installed, one thing though the XMP profile is 7,7,7,20 but system boots as 7,7,7,23. the 592mhz setting is 8,8,8,22 but system boots as 8,8,8,20. both can be changed to the xmp and Jedec setting and system boots..

no matter what i do i still get a double boot issue from cold.. any idea's bad board?

try disabling quickboot, and try setting your ram manually and timings according to spec, what qpi/vtt voltages and dram voltages are you using?

at the Moment MIT is default Speed (no overclock) other than XMP as the sets the ram, Quickboot is disabled as well .

i did pull 2 HDDS and a DVDRW and this issue has not happened with system shut-down for around 5 mins,

might be Hdd issue but i am getting no noise, clicks nothing even hdd sentinel reports fine.. not sure ..

also how does this Debug Led work? if i get an error does it stay on the LED? as i always have FF when in windows.. this seems tobe normal from what i read ..

        Re: X58A UD7 M.I.T bios reset.

you need to plug your os hdd into port 0,second hdd in port 1 and sata dvd drive in port 5,then set them up in the bios boot order as hdd first boot device dvd drive second, you can set your rams speed and timing in the bios by enabling spd and selecting quick, then type in the timings for example 8-8-8-24-command rate 1T set it according to your ram, then go in spd/ram multiplier and raise or lower it untill it shows 1600mhz ram speed, finally set your ram or dram voltage to either 1.5 or 1.66v in the bios and thats it ... ohh and ff code means everything is fine,

on my DQ6 or other Boards, i never did setup hdds according to the numbered SATA on board , i just set boot order.. never thought it mattered.

So if i do get an error code, does the code just flash up and stay there? i watched all on boot, thats just the start up yes?

it doesnt really matter but thats how to set them according to the manual and it will recognize your os hdd first and quicker if its plugged into port 0,yes its normal for the led clock to cycle through all the codes as its scanning and detecting all the different phases eventually it will show ff meaning its checked everything and its fine then boots into windows, any other code other than ff means theres an error and it will show it on the led clock, like c1 error which is a ram related error and will display it on the led clock and probably wont boot into windows

Yea thats the way i Connect Main Os drive , well i got no errors on the Debug Led , well never even on last Ram set i had.. mmmm So basicley if i get a code the Board stops loading and a code shows on LED?

i did another shutdown and got this down to one drive and unplugged power and SATA lead, i got no double Boot and MIT reset (rest of bios was always ok). need to leave this over night now, if i do not get this issue, it must be the drive causing this.. Weired..

what brand of drive is it? maybe future bios will fix it?? if you flash the bios again maksure to tick clear dmi pool data, tried to clear cmos by rear switch?? it will wipe any bios settings if you do so make a note

                  Re: X58A UD7 M.I.T bios reset.

You will need to set your memory yourself as wazza suggested, disable XMP and set it all manually. Set your own Dram voltage to 1.66, and then you will need to find a stable QPI/Vtt voltage, normally at 1600Mhz this would be 1.25-1.4 or so depending on the timings you use.

Also set your own Uncore multi, to 2 x memory multi or 2x + 1-2

Debug LED will only stop and freeze on error codes if there is an error, FF means post to windows complete (BIOS handed over to windows - Normal Boot)

All codes are listed in a link in my signature

just done a Cold boot and this is a first , no Double boot ect system booted as it should. the drive is a WD RE2 500gb (460 day Used Hd sentinel) ether this has some sort of power draw issue or something, or i have a faulty SATA on-board connector, saying that i get no error debug codes. will put the same lead/power in another drive later.

up to doing all this i have done at least 4 Bios's and clear Cmos i.e both beta F6 , F7M And F7p.. had this issue since last Saturday well i think this was Gradual affair.. nightmare all i can say.

No mater what clock mate i got the Double boot reset and MIT reset, one reason i left MIT on standard, if i rebooted and entered setting system booted fine and no issues is windows/games ect even temps were spot on.
was looking and them Codes other day on here , there seems tobe more than in the Manual ..

If that is the case with Debug Led the mem SET must of been fine , but would this Led not pick up faulty hdd's?

Also is 1.4 safe for corsair mem? and do you think that is reason the XMP profile boots as 7,7,7,23 as the bios shows 7,7,7,20 well that is the rated speed of the mem at xmp stage..

i usually set 1.34 if not using XMP on manual imput .

Well when you get the red warning in the BIOS MIT section, your settings are ignored and defaults are used until you correct things. So that may be why it works after a reboot for you.

Yes, you may need 1.35-1.4+ QPI/Vtt for high memory speeds, higher uncore speeds, or tighter timings, so that may be your issue if you are not using enough.

I am not sure about if the debug will pickup a faulty Hard drive or not, is one mentioned in the debug list in my signature?

What makes you think the drive is bad anyway?

the debug does mate , it is error 75 and it is in your list.

when i unplugged drive , i had no double boot issues and in windows (cpu-z) the mem section was not messed up.. this is all on Standard system nothing clocked other than XMp profile , even set that to 1.35 ..

Ohh ok! Sorry I must have missed this if it was previously mentioned!

It very well might be a faulty drive then, test it with the manufacturers diagnostics tools.

Let me know if you need a link to those, if so list the specific model if you have not already.

                              No worry's

Mechanicaly the drive is sound , no Noise/clicks nothing and this is only a slave, i am thinking the Pcb board has an intermittent fault like Power draw or Detection or both..
i Did plug the RE2 in again yesterday to Confirm i even swapped out cable's for new, then the double booting/weird mem reading in CPU-Z (missing mem/part number all mixed up/ wrong timmings ect) started, one reason i Swapped the set and got the Dominator GT set other day (first post).

i unplugged after that (the RE2 was only in 10 mins), i did a bios Clear cmos and not had a double boot since , i have even done a small 3.6 Over-clock and left mem on auto.. and no issues.
this has been a right Nightmare over the last 7 days..I hope this is resolved.

Why do you never get the same Fault twice
