  • bios questions and X58AUD3R.6i

    I'm using GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 1.0) with Intel Core I7 930 and 6 gig ram OCZ3G1600LV6GK.

    When I had X58AUD3R version f6c bios , once in two weeks I would receive "The system has experienced boot failure...". So I would would set up all my setting again and all is fine.

    I'm not OCing but I am running the memory at 1600 mhz.

    Here are my memory settings.

    Set Performance Enhance to {Standard}
    Set DRAM Timing Selectable to {Expert}
    Set Memory Timings to CL 9-9-9-24 (CL-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
    Set Command Rate to {2}

    Set QPI / VTT Voltage to {1.35 Volts}
    Set DRAM Voltage to {1.65 volts}

    tRFC 88

    OCZ3G1600LV6GK

    Now I am currently using X58AUD3R.6i and I love it! I like the new menu layout. and it boots much faster!

    Are there any other setting I need to change to prevent the message "The system has experienced boot failure..."? I havnt had the version Fi to see the message yet.

    VCore is currently set at AUTO should I change it to Normal?

    Re: bios questions and X58AUD3R.6i

    change it to normal and see if its stable,it should be as your at stock clocks,set the uncore freq to twice what your ram multiplier is then add one to it, so for example an 8x ram multi will be 17x uncore freq and so on,are you still getting a red oc warning message when entering the bios??

      No oc message. With the old version F6c I would get the OC message from a cold boot.
      It only happens once in a blue moon.

        probably the new bios works with your ram better as they add improvements for ram each time and manually setting the 3 main voltages cpu,qpi/vtt and dram will deffinatly help,as auto will usually overvolt things and can be less stable

              Re: bios questions and X58AUD3R.6i

              I set Vcore to normal and uncore frequency to x12 x 2= x24 + 1 x25.

              Everything is running fine.

              Should everything that is set to AUTO be changed to a different setting?

                Re: bios questions and X58AUD3R.6i

                not really,i never mess with any other voltages i leave them on auto,same goes for the advanced memory timing i only change the trfc setting from 100 with my ram to 80 or 84,auto voltages for the other things can be left on auto,just cpu,qpi/vtt and dram you can set manually and improve stability and temperatures,you can add a click or two to the ioh and ich core if you were running a fast gpu like a 5970 or crossfire otherwise auto is fine,sometimes changing system performance enhance from turbo to standard helps too,but on the newer x58a boards they can run better if set to extreme or turbo
