  • RunCore Pro IV PATA ZIF 1.8" 64Gb SSD Not Recognized on startup

It seems like a lot of people have been having trouble with these drives. Mine is an RCP-IV-Z1864-C. My problem is that my HP Mini 1000 doesn't recognize the hard drive on start up. I hit the power button and it gives me this nice message that says "Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot device and press a key." I used Acronis True Image Home to clone my other computers Windows 7 OS onto the Runcore drive. I've also tried different cables to no avail. The funny thing is, I can read and write to the hard drive when I connect it via USB to my other computer. So that should mean that the cable is good, right? I just don't understand why the HP Mini won't recognize it. The hard drive doesn't even appear in BIOS. Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Can you please try to reformat the drive via USB, and then disable the trim function:

Run as administrator and input in command prompt:
    fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 1
The trim function will be disable.

After all try again installing the OS..

    Thanks,
    Regards

      Thanks for the suggestion!

I did what you said; formatted the drive, opened cmd as Admin, ran "fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 1" then reinstalled the OS, but unfortunately the Netbook still didn't recognize the drive.

Here's an interesting update, I just tried to update the FW on my hard drive, followed all your directions in the "Guide for End-user to Update Firmware," got into DOS and tried to update, only to get the error an error that said something like "No drive detected."

Another interesting tidbit is that when I went to check what firmware is currently installed on the drive I went into:
        Device Manager>disk drives> Initio 64G-C SSD USB Device> properties> Details> Device Instance Path
and found that where it should say the Firmware on the drive it instead it says: "USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_INITIO&PROD__64G-C__SSD&REV_1.05\0000000000000000W&0"

Does this shed any light on what is wrong with my drive?

I have the same problem as Jibe. After a lot of headache I ended up referring to the HP partslist for my Mini 1030NR and discovered that the original 16GB SSD a SATA drive. The Runcore I got was a PATA droive, which Runcore lists as compatible with HP Mini 1000's. If there is somebody out there who knows more than me about these things (wouldn't take much) can you tell me, would a 64GB 1.8 SATA ZIf drive solve the problem?

That's a good question, I didn't realize that the original Mini drive was SATA (I have the exact same HP Mini), but I chatted with HP support for a few hours one day and I'm sure I said it was a PATA drive, and they didn't tell me it wouldn't work for that reason. So, I'm still not sure.
