  • GA-P35-DS3R doesn't resume from s3 sleep 10% of the time

    OS - Windows 7 64 bit
    Processor - Q6600
    Memory - 4gb OCZ
    Overclock - none
Hard Drive - OCZ Vertex 60 gb ssd
Video Card - 9800 GT NVIDIA
Bios - F13 (latest stable on Gigabyte site)

Hi, I've been trying to use S3 sleep with varying degrees of success. Most of the time it works just fine, but sometimes ( ~10%) the fans turn on, go to the correct speeds, but nothing else comes on. Monitors stay blank, keyboard has no power, etc. Windows 7 isn't really resuming these time, as I can't see anything in the event logs related to resuming, so it looks like the motherboard is having some sort of issue. All of my drivers are updated. This is very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Pleas post your full settings and a link to your ram, template is in my signature.

It may be a problem caused by auto settings, or you may need to use the latest BIOS available here

Re: GA-P35-DS3R doesn't resume from s3 sleep 10% of the time

Thanks for the reply. I didn't get notified of your reply, sorry for the delay. I've included my system settings below. I currently have stripped the computer nearly bare. I've included pretty much just enough stuff to post this message. right now, all i have connected are an nvidia 9800GT, OCZ Vertex SSD, regular hard drive, and an Intel gigabit CT NIC. I've been leery of installing the beta bios, as i gave it a try and it said something about the checksum being wrong. That and the changelist appeared to be just for a SMART problem with an OCZ drive. Any further help is greatly appreciated, this is very frustrating.

Here is a link to the memory. I did memtest86+ the memory at the default settings for 7 hours without error. I've used the default timings/voltages and the OCZ overclocked ones with no luck.

Re: GA-P35-DS3R doesn't resume from s3 sleep 10% of the time

I suggest you install the beta BIOS, they are fine and are all I ever use. They have the best fixes and enhancements long before a final BIOS, I actually never use a final myself unless specifically asked by someone to test something.

That is normal to see checksum message in Qflash, it's showing you the checksum so you can be sure it's correct if you previously flashed that BIOS and know the checksum or know it otherwise. As long as it is 4 digits you are good to go, if it's less do not flash.

These would be optimal for your setup

              Hi Lsdmeasap,

Thanks for your help, but its still a no go. I guess I'll wait for them to post the new bios for my board (it was build due to that checksum issue) and try that. However since it looks like that was just a patch to the last bios it doesn't look like I'll ever get this working. I guess its not that big of a deal, I was just trying to be a little more environmentally conscious. Thanks.

Did you test with the new BIOS, and disable Keep DMI Data before you flash, then loaded optimized after the flash?

S3 sleep issues should be all sorted in P35, long ago, so you may have something else causing the issue for you. Have you tested a clean install on another disk just to be sure you don't have a program or driver causing this?
