Hey here folks.
Recently got sick of my MSI motherboard and so bought a Gigabyte board on a friend's referral. Was really excited because I'd heard good things about Gigabyte.
Well, I got all my peripherals plugged in (a Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium card, Ralink Wireless N card and my Palit Geforce 240 GT card), along with my 8 GB of RAM (4 x 2GB modules) and my WD 500 GB HDD.
So I tried to turn it on and it turned on! Yay! However, it stayed stuck with all the LEDs on the board lit, and nothing happened. No BIOs splash screen, no POST, no nothing. It just hung there. So I tried a few things, basically removing things until I got it to boot.
Turns out that my Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium (PCIe 1x) card is stopping booting from occurring, and I can't figure out why. Maybe this is just some newbie error, but I've tried swapping the cards around however I could (I have a PCIe 1x, a PCI wireless-N card and a PCIe 2.0 graphics card). Board is running the latest stable BIOs, and I can get it to boot to the OS without the sound card installed. Is this just a problem with where I'm placing the cards on the board, or is there some incompatibility that I don't know about?
Again, this could be a really rookie mistake, I'm pretty new at this. Any feedback would be really appreciated! Thanks!
