  • Stop Error x101

I received a stop error today. I was running IBT, then put computer to sleep mode and resumed a short while after. Upon wake I ran IBT and received the BSOD stop 0x00000101.

Im running the i5 Sandy Bridge with P67A-UD3P-B3.

Ive dont some searching and some people say it could be a bad processor. I haven't received this before except the 124 error from trying to get les voltage for my clock. It's running at 4.4Ghz @ 1.32vcore. vtt/pch 1.100.

I'm hoping it was a bug from coming out of sleep mode.

It's not a bad cpu,a 101 error means not enough cpu voltage,I would add one or two clicks more and re test

      Re: Stop Error x101

That's awesome news!!!! I ran both IBT and LinX at the same time and passed at same vcore. Are you sure its the voltage? Could it have been the resuming from sleep bug as some other boards have some type of problem associated with it? I upgraded the bios from F2 to F3. Not sure if there are any bugs listed.

        Re: Stop Error x101

It could be,usually with different bios's you need slightly more or less voltages so maybe newer bios needs less voltage to be stable or could be a sleep bug with old bios

But 101 is not enough cpu voltage
And 124 error is not enough qpi/vtt voltage

full list of bsod codes see my sig. Like wazza said could be issues between bioses. always retest all overclocks after flashing.. NEVER load a old bios profile into a new bios. Always start overclocking again and retest.

Very good information. Thanks for the help :)

I really dont get how other people post on other sites saying fried cpus. I was really starting to get worried, but now all is good.
Didn't load a profile but set clocks and voltages manually. Only time I had the problem was coming out of sleep mode. Testing again without voltage increase to see if it's stable. I know it is because Ive done lots of stress testing. Once more to be safe ;)

Also I think the sleep/wake situation might be worse than ever before due to the "Turbo" mode kicking it on its own with EIST and CE1 enabled. Would that make sense?

              Re: Stop Error x101

Are you using CPU PLL Overvoltage to get the x44 CPU multiplier? If so this could be part of the problem, that is disabled on resume, so if you are using it and need S3 sleep you'll need to find your highest stable CPU multi without CPU PLL Overvoltage.

Also, you shouldn't run LinX and IBT at the same time, since they are the same program anyway. And if you are concerned about your CPU's lifespan you should keep the runs to a minimum with linpack testing, I suggest 10 runs as plenty and 20 runs as a max if you must on certain occasions. Prime95 is much more suited for stability testing on P67 anyway, be sure you grab the latest version.

                Re: Stop Error x101

Ahh ok. Thanks, 10-20 runs sounds good.
                Internal CPU PLL ......Auto
                PCH Core.................1.100
                PCH PLL...................Auto

Dont really need sleep, what do you recommend?

                  Re: Stop Error x101

If you are the type of person that shuts their computer off at night? then yes you want sleep as waking up from sleep is faster then from start up. If you leave your pc on 24/7 and download stuff at night then no you dont need sleep.... Thats my thought :)

Lol. Yeah I'll just leave it at Auto and forget sleep mode. This thing boots up really fast anyway so its not an issue. I have my laptop I use for back up purposes and 2 other desktops; [email protected] and a PDual Core that's set up as the living room HTPC.

                    Sleep is overrated anyway ;)

                      Re: Stop Error x101

I don't use sleep, I shut off my PC when I'm not using it and wait the minute or less for startup each time I turn it on.
