Problems with GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775

Specs for this system are Board:GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775. CPU:Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz. PSU:OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Active PFC Power Supply. RAM:G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800. Was running Windows XP, system would hang at XP boot screen, received a lot of hard drive errors and system would crash a lot. Bought new drive, Win 7 64 bit, did format, fresh install and same problems, Win 7 hangs at Windows boot screen have to force restart several times to get to boot. Checked PSU volts when system hangs 5v at 5.2 volts, 12v at 12.3 volts. I put the drive with XP on it in another system to check for errors tested ok in 2 other computers but bad in the system above. Bad Board, Ram, or CPU? Losing my mind.

I forgot to add I tried the newest Bios F10. In the bios tried every setting possible, failsafe, optimized, tried upping the voltages, tried to under clock no go.

Try +0.1 MCH OverVoltage.
Also chech BIOS PC Health, and set DDR2 OverVoltage +0.1 if it's only 1.8 or near.
Is tThis a new system or errors just began recently after it was in use for a while?

I have been having problems with this for a long time, it is a work pc and had to deal with until I got fed up with the crashes and no boot.

Load optimized defaults, add MCH OverVoltage +0.1, and DDR2 Over Voltage if needed.
Check the MCH heatsink see that it is seated properly (push it down at the center, don't try to move it).
Download Core Temp or RealTemp and see if temps are ok at idle and under load.

With core temp: core0 36* and core1 34*. with real temp: core0 37* and core1 35* Under load both about 41* This thing is not running hot.

Nope core temps are more then fine.
Have you increased voltege(s) yet?
It would also be good to run memtest86+ for a few passes.

Can you link to your memory or give the model # or a screenshot of CPU-z SPD Tab, so we can check the voltages you need.

Mem test made 1 pass with no errors and stopped half way through the second pass in dual channel mode both sticks. Tried each stick separate and they both passed 2 rounds of memtest no errors. GSKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 CL5-5-5-15 at 1.8-1.9 volts I had the volts at 1.86 still crashed

What about the fact you can't set ram timing and voltage settings? Except increase +1, +2 etc.

Thanks, that is 1.8V-1.9V memory, so +0.1 =1.9V on the memory should be fine, you might even need +0.2 for 2.0V since you are using two kits and the rating is for one.

You will need +0.2-0.3 MCH for sure

And be sure you set Performance Enhance to Standard
