  • Gigabyte x58a UD7 v1.0 Slot issue?

    yo guys..

i am from chile, and i bought this memories..

    and this Motherboard : Gigabyte x58A UD7 V1

    | [H]ard|OCP

And the problem is, i only can use 2 x 2 gb with the default config in the bios.

    using the White slots..

    2-4

and the problem is, when i try to work with the last ram in the slot number 6, my window got restarted..
sometimes i got blue screen, etc.

but when i work with dual channel my computer work well.

i already updated the bios to the last version "f7" and after that "f8m" but nothing happens..

my Motherboard can detect the 6 gb.. but is not working properly, so much instability and
    crashes.

    Computer spects:
    Intel i7 920 + V8 Coolermaster
    EVGA GTX 570
    CORSAIR TX850
    SSD PHOENIX GSKILL 60 GB

Note: im using bios on default settings.

i tried with the default config and with XMP but the sistem got crash starting the bios.. all the time..

when i connect the third ram slot the leds close to the RAM DIMMS.. turn RED and yellow..

and when i use just 2-4 turn Green and works without any problem.

what can i do? the motherboard is new..

    :s

first of all try to find if there is something wrong with your mems.... try each one |one at the time| for stability issues using memtest

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

if everything is ok then try to set from bios the specifications that are written down to your memory sticks ... i mean timings and volt

      Re: Gigabyte x58a UD7 v1.0 Slot issue?

Is this a new build or a old build with upgraded memory? Like said test each memory alone make sure all memory is ok by its self.

If this is a new build I would STRONGLY recommend that you remove the cpu and very carefully inspect the cpu socket for any bent pins. If you have a camera Please take some pictures of the socket from different angles looking into the socket area. Make sure the room is very well lit, dont use the camera flash and if your camera supports macro mode please use that.

If this is a old build and other memory work ok but not this memory then Please grab a bios template from my sig and please fill it in with your current bios settings that work for 2x2gb ram but fail at 3x2gb ram.

Another thing to try if this is a new setup. Is please try the memory in different slots and see if it is just 1 stick dont like 1 slot or any memory dont like that last slot.

In default you mean DDR-1333, XMP disabled?
Is this your memory G.SKILL-Products ? If not please post model/part number.
        Try increasing QPI/VTT a bit 1.2-1.3v

          Re: Gigabyte x58a UD7 v1.0 Slot issue?

Does third mem slot fail on all three sticks? Or just one? If just one then you have a faulty ram stick,if it fails with all memory sticks on last ram slot then its either a faulty slot or bent cpu socket pins, could be qpi/vtt or dram voltage, set them manually

            Re: Gigabyte x58a UD7 v1.0 Slot issue?

Can you please post us some images of your CPU socket, in a well lit room from a few angles, with no flash.

If you can't start the board with a single stick of memory by itself in that last slot, then you more than likely have bent CPU socket pins, or a cut/scratched trace on the motherboard
