I recently started to get a high pitch, kinda squeel noise coming from a new PSU I had ordered. (Corsair AX850)
I decided to start working on my system to try and root out the issue.
I formatted Windows7 64bit to 3 different hard drives so I would be able to test everything from there.
(Since the noise sounded like it was timed with my hard drives spinning up)
From here I did the following!
I changed and tried 4 different outlets , used 2 different PSU's (corsair tx650 non-modular and corsair ax850 modular), took off my CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ and installed the factory Intel fan and heatsink, swapped video cards between a Nvidia GTS250 1GB Core Edition and a Zotac GTX 480, used an array of different hard drives and hard drives in combinations, 2 different dvd drives, but I am still getting the noise.
So I figure it MUST be a cap or coil under the heatsinks around the CPU. I got the motherboard in April, I just figure it is kinda fast to have an issue, but that comes with the territory.
Any other insight I might be missing for testing this problem? (I do not have a second CPU or 2nd set of memory to work with)
Any tips would be appreciated, I figure I will just have to call ASRock for an RMA.
Thank you.
Edit: I also tested the system from my HAF 932 and on a tech station (open platform)
