  • GIGABYTE Z77 Microsite Live + All Models Listed

Gigabyte has listed all of their upcoming Z77 model motherboards, and created a Microsite with information about the upcoming motherboard lineup.

Further information, and overclock results, will be added to the Microsite as soon as Intel lifts the NDA on these products.

Feel free to stop by the Microsite and decide what your future Gigabyte Z77 model will be!

Re: GIGABYTE Z77 Microsite Live + All Models Listed

Beyond possibly making the boards a little more robust, I'm trying to dig through the features and figure out what I actually need.
I mean, I'm still not using USB 3 for anything.
        Blue tooth doesn't excite me.
mSATA I'm not using now, and don't know if PCIE 3 will help me in the near term.
I don't know anything about the Creative "features" on a few boards which is a concern because the UD5H looks sweet (because it's a UD). I had to remove all the Dolby, err, "stuff" off my Z68 as I prefer true surround sound and it was mucking up my sound.

        UEFI is good,
The onboard audio has been good but looks like STILL no DTS connect.
Won't all the SATAIII ports be Intel now? That and plenty of them is good.
Overall more robust architecture is good.
        22nm CPU good.
Fast is always good, whether you need it or not.
Fun factor of something new is good.

Re: GIGABYTE Z77 Microsite Live + All Models Listed

We discussed DTS before here, remember, it all depends on software and what codec is used, so you'll need to lookup the codec on these boards to verify

I believe these boards will still only have 2 x Intel 6Gb/s port, Intel is still lacking on getting this going, X79 should have had more than 2 and still doesn't yet either! All other 6Gb/s ports will be controller by other chipsets.

Fresh PCB smells so great, much better than a new car!

Well DTS Connect has to be enabled by the mobo maker. It's a combo chipset/software thing, but you can't just drop in DTS Connect software and make it work. Some sound cards have it (Asus , Creative) and some mobo's have it-although I haven't seen it on any recent models but certainly not newer Gigabyte boards. Not sure about Asus mobo's.

Re: GIGABYTE Z77 Microsite Live + All Models Listed

The problem is with optical or coax output; without DTS Connect to convert multichannel analog to DTS it's hard to pass more than 2 channels over SPDIF. DTS Connect makes this simple by converting on the fly to DTS which can passed over SPDIF and recognized by your AVR and decoded. I've been using a separate hardware device for this -Creative DTS 610- but they don't make them anymore and are getting hard to find on Ebay.

EDIT: well technically SPDIF only passes 2 channels but DTS looks like 2 channels but if encoded as 5.1 will be decoded the same
