Yes, that is pretty normal for a SATA III SSD on a SATA II port. The loss in speed is mostly in the sequential, large file read speed. That does not make the SSD worthless at all, it is still far faster than any HDD in all areas of performance. When you get a board with SATA III, you can have the full speed your SSD can provide, so their is no point in buying a SATA II SSD if you "only" have a SATA II board.
