  • Gigabyte Ud5h Issues

In this thread we can put our requests to giugbyte for help .

My problem is with voltage vcore too high. 4.4 Ghz = 1.24v
    4.5ghz 1.28V, 4.6ghz 1.36v 4.7 1.44 v. At 4.4 ghz if i set llc on medium i must set dvid -0.06 to go at 1.24vcore

    I need a tech support\response.

    My Vcore voltage... (i7-3770K)
    4.5....1.24
    4.6....1.28
    4.7....1.34

    Can you try without DVID.....

Leave your RAM on stock........(LLC extreme)

Not every CPU is same......try to set (LLC extreme),Vtt...1.10 and found lowest value to be stable.

if i set 1.25 with llc extreme seems to be stable but cinebench crash at start cpu test. Linx 15000 no error. I haven't idea.

When I disconnected my devices from my USB-hub and connected them directly to the motherboards USB-ports they worked as normal. This is a new experience after installing BIOS GA-Z77X-UD5H - F15m.

It seems as if the new beta BIOS does not properly enable USB-hubs. I tested on two different brands and no one was working. Even thou one of my hubs has a separate power supply the keyboard LEDs where not enabled until Windows was started.

Is this hub-theory something coolhand411 or someone else can confirm?

Those vcore's are on the high side but not unusually so. By setting the llc to higher value you will be able to use a lower vcore as you will have less vdroop. As already suggested, you should stay away from using the offset voltage until after you have found out your minimum stable vcore for a particular overclock multiplier.

                Re: Gigabyte Ud5h Issues

well, the thread title is 'issues'

i'm not too happy with the high voltages either:

with only a small oc to 4.1 the voltage shoots up to 1.25v (llc = normal) that's what most people use to reach 4.5+
                so now i have to use negative dvid offset to protect the cpu which in turn makes the system unstable in spite of plenty sufficient max. voltage;

This thread is called: "Gigabyte Ud5h Issues" and to help us understand what the thread is about I quote gizmo83: "In this thread we can put our requests to giugbyte for help ."

I am clearly a newbie at TweakTown. Can you, as an experienced member (?), please help me understand how I should realize that ”UD5H issues” means exclusively voltage problems and nothing else.

Is starting many threads the preferred method at TweakTown rather than working with groupings like putting all problems for one motherboard in one thread?

                    Re: Gigabyte Ud5h Issues

yes, it is. creating one mega thread for a board seems like a good idea till it reaches hundreds of pages long as the same questions get asked (and ansered over and over again). I see no benefit in that but if you feel you must go ahead. By the way, this is a peer-to-peer forum and even though it is Gigabyte's sort-of official forum, you do not see their tech's in here to any extent (I've never seen one post-officially).

The way the board has been running is you post your problem and others offer their help. So far it seems to work pretty good. Where it get difficult is when others post in a thread about their own problem different from the OP's and that gets the thread off track. Its better to just start your own thread unless your offering help or you have the same exact problem and are willing to help troubleshoot.

                      Re: Gigabyte Ud5h Issues

The problem I am having is that with BIOS version 12e on the UD5 TH 'board is that I cannot adjust the DVID in any form once I use a multiplier at 46 or above in the main cpu multi or turbo multi without a non-post condition. Vdroop is not the issue as the board never posts. If adjusting the LLC would cure this I would not be posting.
Please help me understand if it is just me and my 'board or if this is a Beta BIOS issue.

If there is something Gigabyte would want me to try I am willing. I have backup images of my install and know to remove my RAID 1 array from the SATA connections before trying another overclock setting.

                      Thanks,
                      Uwanna

Uwanna, if you want to know what Gigabyte wants you to do, you should contact Gigabyte tech support. As barkeater said, this is a peer to peer forum and we try to help each other best we can.
Sounds like a problem in the bios, I think you should contact Gigabyte about it and see if they can find a fix. That is something I've never run across before.

Thanks for your information boondocks. I was dreaming that Gigabyte actually paid any attention to these posts. After doing more intensive reading about this 'board I have found that I am not alone. If Gigabyte truly has their customers in mind then a solution should soon follow, I'll wait. There must be some problem with the BIOS interacting with the new IR3550 power unit. I can only hope that this get resolved.

I have owned and used Gigabyte 'boards almost exclusively since the Intel 865 chipset days. I have never had a problem like this and hope that I don't have to discontinue using them in my high-end builds.
I've been messing with PCs since Commodore64 and building my own since Pentium 120 non-MMX. I rarely post a question because I can normally solve them on my own. This problem, however, has me stumped. Maybe a little more patience while Gigabyte sorts out this BIOS control of their new power delivery system will benefit me the most.

                            Thanks, Uwanna

Suit yourself, but you know the saying, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Sometimes problems only come up for a few people and maybe if you contact Gigabyte directly they can figure out what will work for you. But otherwise you might look around some other forums and see if anyone else has the problem.
With all the possible hardware/OS combinations sometimes they just miss something that only happens with particular setups. Who knows what the problem is but I would say a bios fix would do the trick, just need to tell Gigabyte the problem along with your hardware/software list and see if they will fix it.
                              Good luck.
