To prevent any more hijacking of maedar's thread(by me)

Ill try n cut it short.
I only have sandra for testing purposesAIDA locked out .
    In sandra
    present ram
    9-9-9-24 1T 1333 bw 18gb/s 1.55v

    10-10-10-28 2T 1600 21gb/s 1.61v

I dont think its going to run at a higher speed than that ,unless loosening out to 12's or something.

The samsung ram ,well AIDA gives different readings to Sandra.

    See this article:

    Samsung 8GB 30nm DDR3 1600MHz Memory Kit Review - Overclocking Fun! - Legit Reviews

That guys tweaking gives somewhere around the AIDA scores you posted, different timings/v but same speed .
Theoretically Your setup now should give around 25-26 gb/s in Sandra.Would you be able to test n see if it does.. thx :), just wondering if the upgrade is worth it.
If I had bought 1600 ram originally,it might not be and due to postage costs from UK etc I could go ahead n get some gskill 2133 stuff, admittedly at 11 timings for a lower price.

Either way I suppose Id have to sell the 1333 stuff :(

        Great: merci,
        nice figs seems v good.

Sandra isnt as usefull as AIDA.or free everest as it used to be!, but it stays freeware :)

My two horrible low speeds ,or at least low bandwidth , are on the bottom,2nd from the top is what I thought was the green samsung , but its some other variety running at 1866.
The top one is some sandy E ,those extra cores make nice figures :) whether youd notice it in rl dunno

        oh yeh gb/s :)

          Re: Wazzaram

          1. That green ram seems to be around the best performing 2133 capable stuff Ive seen

2.My memory when I bought it 2 years ago was the equivalent of £58 good 2133 stuff was probably double that price then. The Samsung green I could buy for that price now and less.

Unfortunately ,cos of the system design(mine I mean, and my usage, general and games, I wouldnt see that much of a performance diff, memory measurements alone,or even used for a combination readout arent as relevant as on older systems).,maybe the equivalent of another 100 mhz in cpu clock speed?, a couple of frames per sec in games or something.
Cost to me say £51 inc postage to here..maybe get £15 if lucky after ebay commision on my present ram..At present cpu clock, not much rl difference,of course it might help get a higher cpu clock at a lower voltage, sustained, but thats a bit of a gamble.
          Ill update if any change.

              Re: Wazzaram

I thought Id post up this sandra compilation
cpu speed is either 4.8 or 4.9ghz in each case, Top 3 are 4.9.

The top 3 in the graph are my new 1600mhz rated mem and it hasnt been fully benchmarked,Id be fairly sure the xmp 1600mhz profile would be fine.
Voltage on the 1600mhz mem is 1.5v in all cases

              Voltage on the 1333mhz is 1.545 at 1333mhz and 1.61 v at 1600mhz.

I havent gone "tweaking" the new memory cos I need to bench it ,and also considering the perf diff in real terms between the memory speeds is less than what is shown:
even at 2133 speed the perf inc with timing variations n voltage change might not be worth it :0.

Still at least I do have 1600 out of the box memory and the profile is read to v and timing specs.

Bah just noticed, the mem speed doesnt show in the screen shot
              Top is 2133
              2nd is 1866
              3rd is 1600
              4th is 1600
              5th is 1333

                  Re: Wazzaram

Yeh running 4.9 Ghz its the 1600 stuff 8-8-8-24 xmp profile at 1600
                  I did the 1866 and 2133 at 1.50v too,
I just put in 10-10-10-27 for 1866 cos if it worked at 8's for 1600 thought should be ok at 10's for 1866,booted up fine.did a qwik benchmark.
Go ram .so loosened off to 29 for 2133..no windows

loosened down to 10-11-11-29 and then into windows.seemed ok , so did the sandra bm..just rough n ready testing.. it might not even last 2 min in prime ;)

I suppose with a bit of v or timing adjust ,it might bench stable ,but hey at least I now have mem that boots over 1600!

                    Re: Wazzaram

Just on that xbit article I linked and tRFC from the post in Asrock forum.
I loaded in 96 for it seems to be fine.. but not much diff ;)

2143mhz benches out ok.I left in 1.53v..might as well.

The pic..the green text is the cheap 1333mhz ram which wont go faster than 1600.. at least not at cas 10!
The red text is the 1600 stuff which will do 2133.
The interesting aspect is the point at which both sets are running at 1600 at approx the same cpu speed..4.8-4.9.

The genuine 1600mhz memory is a full 2 cas settings faster at 1600, but in performance terms you wouldnt notice.Dram speed(with the same cpu speed) seems to be king even with loose timings.

That xbit article..since Im stuck at 2133(ish)..and 2500 memory is around £120 and 2800 memory is around £250 with 1.65v and timings of 13 and 14! perhaps yours will not only bench better but actually perform better..since AIDA is thread limited?

nb the actual ss is at 100.05 bclock 4.82ghz cpu and 2143 memory(stable for me) but thats about it in terms of a reasonable speed/fan noise and temps

As a matter of limited interest..Got 5.1 ghz up with a 100base clock..the bandwidth was running about 29gb/s at 2133..hey I thought maybe ill do a ss..but no lets be realistic..bench a little first

1.57v+ and 95-96C core temps within a minute, I cancelled the test rapidly! ,I decided to pass on the 29gb/s screenshot as being just a tad unrepresentative

                      Re: Wazzaram

it should help lower the latency by lowering trfc,it doesnt improve read/write/copy figures much if at all

                        Re: Wazzaram

Yeh perhaps latency by .1-.3 ns

On my net travels I came across a guy running what was originally 1600 spec ram at 9-10-10-24 1t at 2133 with tRFC of 88 at 1.55v.It was low voltage ram.
                        It seemed familiar somehow.

Since my own runs at 9 with 1.65v(maybe even 1.61-1.64 but didnt try) I decided to dial that in.. with secondary timings tightened up from auto and lo..or hi if you like.. sod all difference :)

I suppose ill check to see if it will go all 9 timings at 1.65 or something but like on sandra above,or the v fast memmax2 check Im not expecting much difference.
Tightening timings ,at 2133 anyway seems to give at most .5 gb/s and around .5 ns in latency.

                            Ah well lets see..
hmm I have a readout from an old version of aida saved in documents too.. ill put that in.

Here we go..hot off the bench :)

                            The secondary timings are 38...128rc 5 rrd 12wr 6rtp 6 tr 25frw and 8wcl

latency looks slow and lvl3 cache not so good(then again your cpu has different amounts?..i must put back in that 96rc and see what happens

                              Re: Wazzaram

Heres another with tRC 96 and 10-11-10-24 which I think is stable also..but doesnt make a lot of difference.
The 5/6ns on memory alone could be down to the 9cas.
The cache figures.6 of one n half dozen of the other..probly the diff in cpu speed, and or size?
Ithink I posted before that 9-11-10-28 seemed to be ok ..but needs 1.63-1.65 v that might well pull the latency down to 32/33 in AIDA but moving from 1.53v to 1.63+ just for that hardly seems worth it.
I read something too about a 24gb/s "wall",whether thats to do with the memory or what .?.
                              Try a few MaxxMem2 runs..just for fun :0
