  • I need advices for my new build with AsRock Z77 Extreme 6

    Hello :)
I'm new here and, as I've very little and poor experience in this matter, I really need your advices to fully run with my new build with following specs:
    1. mobo: AsRock Z77 Extreme6
    2. CPU: I5 3570k
    3. GPU: MSI RadeonHD 6850 Cyclone
    4. RAM: 2x4Gb G.Skill Ares F3 1866C9D 1866 MHz Low Profile (... maybe they could be 1600 MHZ ?!?!?)
    5. Dissi: Scythe Mugen 3 Rev. b
    6. Case: Coller Master 690
    7. PSU: Corsair Gaming Series GS800 800W 80plus
    8. SSD: Samsung 830 128 Gb
    9. HDD1: Samsung HD753LJ 750Gb
    10. HDD2: Western Digital Caviar Green (WDCWD10EADS) 1Tb
    11. DVDROM: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM
    12. OS: Windows 8

The UEFI release is P2.40 and all the settings are default values. I've seen the AHCI mode is on too.

About DDR3 installation: I've randomly used DDR3_A2 and DDR3_B2 slots to install DDRAMs.

About drives installation: I've randomly used following slots to connect drives: SATA3_0 for Samsung HD753LJ (Storage Disk), SATA2_4 for DVDRAM, SATA3_A1 for WD Caviar Green (Storage disk) and SATA3_A2 for Samnsung SSD 830 (System disk).

So I've completed the hardware installation and I've installed Windows 8 without particular troubles, I've installed and updated Anti Virus software (G Data), then I've updated Windows8 and, finally, I've begun to install mobo drivers from AsRock bundle drivers DVD Rom. Referring to mobo drivers installation I've reported some troubles that stopped me and, after 2 BSODs, automatically forced the system to restart with previous parameters from safe point automatically saved (… I’ve even to reactivate my Windows 8 copy). Before that I remember I’ve not followed automatic drivers installation procedure because I didn’t want to install Google tool but anyway I tried to follow drivers order on the screen (Google, Google tool bar, INF …). So I remember I’ve installed INF drivers without any trouble and after that I didn’t installed mobo GPU drivers because I didn’t want to use it. After that (… it could be around midnight and I was tired) troubles begun because system said the Win 8 drivers were more updated than the ones I was trying to install (… I really don’t remember which driver it was !). I’ve skipped that installation and I continued with following drivers (… I don’t remember which) installation. After that, system tried to reboot but after 2 BSODs it booted with previous safe values and I turned off PC and I went to sleep. :\

So here they are some desperate questions of mine:
    A – Did I commit any big error ?
B - Are the above slots I've used to install drives ad RAM the optimal ones?
B - Is the software installing order I've followed the right one ? (Windows 8 -> Antivirus -> UPdating Anti Virus -> Updating Windows 8 -> Installing mobo drivers from bundle ASRock DVD)
C - Do I have to follow particular order in installing mobo drivers ?
D - My AsRock bundle DVD drivers version is 1.8c. Does DVD contain latest release for drivers or I should better install drivers downloaded from AsRock site ?
E - Do I really need to install drivers for onboard GPU if I don’t use it ?
    F – Do I’ve to install latest UEFI release 2.70 ?
G – Is there any drivers I don’t need to install?
H – Is there any particular application I should really have to install?

Any advices will be welcome too !!

    Thanks !!

Re: I need advices for my new build with AsRock Z77 Extreme 6

Your PSU is not nice enough in my opinion; You PSU should be your nicest component. I run a HX1050 on a hawsell. Yes that is to much power but i want clean GOLD rated power. Check your toatle wattage, idk how much your taking up but if you get close to that 800 watts it will cause a restart.
B - Are the above slots I've used to install drives ad RAM the optimal ones?
Your RAM is installed wrong. This may cause the problem. Ram is made to be in a dual channel, triple or quad. It works in Single but it not optimal. Now look at the Slots. A1-A2 is one channel. B1-B2 is another channel. right now you have them sperate so they cant work as one. They both belong in A1-A2. not B1-B2 or a combo of both.
B - Is the software installing order I've followed the right one ? (Windows 8 -> Antivirus -> UPdating Anti Virus -> Updating Windows 8 -> Installing mobo drivers from bundle ASRock DV
usally you install windows>drivers>antivirus>games and software
C - Do I have to follow particular order in installing mobo drivers
not exactly, but if my SSD has drivers i start with that. SSD>HDD>CPU>LAN>GPU>ECT
D - My AsRock bundle DVD drivers version is 1.8c. Does DVD contain latest release for drivers or I should better install drivers downloaded from AsRock site ? t
online will always have the latest release for drivers and softwareno you do not. I dont know if anyone ever does unless they use it haha it wouldn't hurtdoesnt hurt to install all drivers related to your computer
    Winrar, CPUD ID and HWMontio

need more info on whats happening now. if your computer running? Windows 8 restarts 3-4 times during installing depending on your build.

    is your computer working?
Run a bench mark or any kind and come share results.

go to windows 8 store>search "PC benchmark">run all tests

    come back and share results
