  • z87 Extreme6 with a Asus DSX sound card problem

I'm attempting to install the software for my DSX sound card and (7 Pro) it's not being seen in the device manager and the software won't install.

I tried to change the bios settings for the on board disabled ect but no change.

I switched the slots the card is mounted in with no change.

    Any thoughts?

Is the card seen in the ASRock System Browser tool in the BIOS? Not that the tool is perfect, but wondering. If you use A-Tuning, you can check the System Browser there.

If the card is not seen in Device Manager or the System Browser, any chance the card is bad? No idea if you've used it before.

Sometimes a card (usually video) will need a BIOS update before it works correctly. I'm not saying that IS the problem, but something to remember.

You're not even at the software installation stage if the card cannot be seen. Do you use multiple video cards?

BTW, I live in Heilllinois too, never saw that one before, nice!

Haven't looked in the ASRock browser yet as was installing updates/drivers ect.

I was able to refresh a couple unidentified items in the device manager and then it popped up under sound yet the DSX software kept saying no card found.

My video (R9 290) bios is solid as is the board bios.
The card worked perfectly on my first xtrm 6 I had before I RMA'd it and it worked on the ASUS Hero board I swapped outta this box hence my frustration.

I have a clean 7 Pro install too. I don't have to use it but would like to. I have yet to try the 7.1 on board so I can give it a shot. I'll probably just build another box since I only a couple pieces to do so.

Appreciate the reply and I'm sorry about yer location ...... I'll be showing my love for this hole when my foreclosure goes through and I move about a mile north into WI in a couple months.

The Newegg reviews, FWIW, are either it's a great card, or it's terrible, with many driver issues.

Be sure to run the INF file installer, the INF driver ver:9.4.0.1026 on your board's download page, gotta have it.

Also, the Intel IME software, the Intel Management Engine driver ver:9.5.14.1724, another must have on Z87 boards.

Without your sound card, there are possibly up to three audio sources on your board, the RealTek, the Intel Z87 has audio with a driver installed with the on-CPU graphics driver, and if you have a video card, that has audio. So in Windows Sound in Control Panel, see what is there and what is selected as the default device.

Ah, Wisconsin, love that place, but the weather is basically the same as Helllinois in Winter.
