I have a GA-Z97X Gaming 7 motherboard. When I open SIV or OC I can select a list, and then I can see various items in the system, from the Vcore to the speeds of the various fans.
I am looking at temps: right now I have a System at 28c, a PCH at 40c and a CPU at 20c. In real Temp, my cores run 24-28c. In CPUID HWMonitor, my cores run 24-28c with a "package" temp that tracks my hottest core. TMPIN0 is 28c, TMPIN1 is 40c and TMP2 is 20c. NB -- this is with an open setup, so there is no case to channel air up past the PCH.
From this I conclude that "System" on the Gigabyte list means it is reading my hottest core. PCH seems to be the PCH chip. And "CPU" is Tcase, located at the junction of the case and the CPU silicon. At least, that is what makes sense to me.
Please tell me if I am right or wrong in this.
