  • Asus n5 dh71 subwoofer problem

My SonicMaster subwoofer is not functioning properly. When I plug it in, the subwoofer just adds a horribly loud static mess to the sound. I was using it with win 7 premium and it worked fine, but I have since moved on to using the Win 10 tech preview and I am on the current build. All of my drivers are up to date including both intel and nvidia graphics drivers.

    My specs are an i7 3630 2.40GHz
    Intel HD4000 and nvida 635m
    8 gigs of ddr3 1600 RAM

What else can I do to get this working? Is it a Win 10 problem?

Note: This is not a huge issue as I usually don't use it at all. It's just a small thing that came with the laptop, and it's kind of neat to use on occasion, so don't dig too deep if nothing immediately comes to mind.

That could be a Win 10 TP issue, or a driver and Win 10 TP combination problem.

Usually every PC has multiple audio sources/chips in it. For example, the Intel 4000 video driver also contains an audio driver that is used with the Intel audio support that is included in the board's chipset. Your laptop's board also has an Intel chipset, so it has an audio capability. Your Nvidia GT 635m video chip also has audio support. Plus your laptop may have a separate audio chip as part of its features.

My point is it is usually possible to select and use the different audio sources in a PC. That is normally done in the Windows Sound option in Control Panel. The current or default audio source being used may have a problem with Win 10 and the subwoofer, but changing to another audio source might solve that problem.
