Hi all,
Can someone tell me if my GA-X58-UD7 is too old for a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD.
I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, all working fine.
I then decided it would be a good idea to take out the 1TB Western Digital Black Cavier HDD and replace it with the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD.
I started by Cloning HDD to SSD using Samsung Migration Tool - Failed.
So next step used Acronis 2015 Clone Tool, this took 4 Hours but did work, disconnected HDD and connected SSD, boot up - Failed.
After a bit of reading, went into Bios and changed the controller from IDE to AHCI under Integrated Peripherals, could not find anything else to change,
Re-boot and success it loaded my cloned Windows 10, so decided to install Samsung Magician and see what was happening.
First issue, where the serial number is it has a box for Verification this failed.
Then check speeds and was not impressed but noted in red at the top is said AHCI not enabled, but it was in Bios.
Seq Read 337
Seq Write 223
Random Read 8985
Random Write 15861
I read that you need to go into registry and alter the msahi bit it's not there, then for 64bit its storahci, found that but already set to "0"
I read that if the SSD authentication fails it's do with AHCI not being enabled, but it is in Bios.
Next step tried a clean install, but same problems as above, so this now leaves me thinking the MB is too old being 2010.
SSD is out now and back with the WD HDD, but would be great if I could get the SSD to work.
What do you guys think.
Thanks in advance.
