  • Z97 Pro 4 with SM951 nvme - MZVPV

    Hello,

    I just built a brand new system. I got a Z97 Pro 4 with a 512GB SM951 NVME with part number MZVPV512H.

I am running the latest BIOS, 2.20 but the motherboard won't detect the ssd.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Dear xfman,

This is Danny from ASRock HQ TSD.
I’m in charge of technical support on this forum since 2016/01.

I tested Samsung SM951 Nvme SSD on Z97 Pro4 BIOS P2.20, and the Disk information can be recognized properly.
Please load BIOS default setting and then double-check if your SM951 device is in Boot menu. (Path: BIOS -> Boot -> Boot option)
    Please refer to attached picture.

Because your SM951 is Nvme type, it wouldn’t be showed detection information in SATA configuration M.2 slot.
Therefore, please refer to the method above and then double-check it in boot page or boot menu.

If the disk still cannot be recognized, please update BIOS to P2.20 version for try, please download from link.

If you would like to install OS in your M.2 disk, please follow the steps to install OS with GPT mode.
(Due to NVMe type storage limitation, we would suggest you install Win 8.1/ Win 10 into the Nvme SSD.)
1.Please set CSM(Compatibility Support Module) at disable.
path: BIOS -> Boot -> CSM.
2.Please press "F11" enter to Boot menu.
3.Please select "uefi: USB/DVD OS Image Drive" to install OS with GPT mode
If any question, please feel free to contact me.
    Thanks!

    Have a great day
    Danny
