Just brought an ASUS eeBox EB 1037, barebone to be able to install Linux on there and use it as HTPC, surprise, surprise, this comes with UEFI and enabled the secure boot for default, no manual no intructions of how to disable it, nothing official from ASUS to how to disable secure boot, or any thing on the new UEFI settings, I contact by email and chat and the official response from ASUS is they do not provide with any information or manual for UEFI, apparently ASUS want to keep the information secret about this, I have review several forums on how to disable secure boot and none of this work for this unit.
so no information no manuals, and total secrecy from manufacturer on how to use the products, totaly inconcevivable, bellow I'm copy chat with ASUS Support

I do apologize for the inconvenience that this will cause. Guillermo Morenowhy apollogize? is inconcevible that ASUS does not have a manual for UEFI used on their products how this could happend? now is this some kind of secret that ASUS need to keep? that is absurd............. on old Motherboard cards was a little document with information about BIOS, their options and meaning of the settings Damian M.Currently we are not hiding any information about our UEFI setup Guillermo. But I am still checking our system for any updates on this. Guillermo Morenojust got angry after our chat!3:01 pm Damian M.It is understandable why you would be feeling this way towards our company but we are working diligently to improve our customer service and as such your input is noted. My apologies Guillermo there hasn't been any updates. Hence no manuals are available. |
