  • H97M Pro4 - New board in rebuild, 4 beeps upon start

I bought a new H97M Pro4 to rebuild my machine. The only parts I carried over from my old build were my i7-4790 CPU, my RAM (4 sticks, 16GB total, all of which worked in my last build), my 1TB mSATA SSD, my Blu-ray burner, my DVD burner, my GeForce GTX960 card and a 4TB drive I use for backup.

Everything else is new; my case, my CPU cooler, my fans and power supply. My mSATA SSD is inside a 2.5" compartment to use as a SATA SSD.

Upon activating my machine for the first time, I got 4 beeps. The machine stayed on for 10 seconds before restarting with another 4 beeps, and the cycle repeated until I turned off the power supply.

Did my motherboard brick upon arrival in the mail? This is an entirely new H97M Pro4 (from a retailer in Canada specializing in new, unused discontinued hardware). I even changed the battery, and I still got 4 beeps. Did I miss something when I connected all the leads from my case to the headers on my board? Or is my BIOS the problem? This board was never used, and the BIOS version is 2.00 (probably from the time this board came from the factory, maybe in 2014 or 2015); the latest is v2.30.
