By Mike Magee: Friday 17 January 2003, 11:00
TEC CHANNEL has just published AMD and Intel roadmaps for its Athlon 64 chips in 2003.
The lengthy article says that AMD will introduce Athlon 64s in 2800+, 3100+ and 3400+ versions, in Q1 and the roadmaps, pictures of which you can find on page three of the article, confirms that there will be 333MHz Bartons initially at speeds of 3000+, 2800+ and 2500+.
The Bartons will live on to become 3200+ chips in Q3/Q4 of this year.
Meanwhile, the roadmaps suggest that Athlon 64s with 1MB of L2 will launch in Q2, to be followed by 3700+ speeds in Q3, and 4000+ speeds in Q4.
In Q3, AMD will introduce a "Paris" version of the Athlon 64 with only 256K L2 cache, rather than 1MB, and at speeds of 3200+. There will be a 3500+ version of this in Q4.
