  • Windows XP/2000 and AudioCatalyst 2.1

    Hi Guys

I'm just wondering if any of you guys have used Audiocatalyst 2.1 in the past with Windows XP/2000. When I used to utilise Audiocatalyst 2.1 with Windows 98 SE/Me I could rip tracks from audio CD's just fine in ASPI mode but now since I'm running Windows XP/2000 I find that Audiocatalyst 2.1 has now locked itself into Analog only which enables all tracks to be ripped at a speed of only about 1x.

People have said that I have to install the new version of ASPI for Windows XP/2000 but I guess that I wanted to come here and confirm this.

If this is true, could one of you guys post the URL location of where I could go to download it the fix.

    Thanks guys.

AudioCatalyst 2.1 just doesn't work well under XP. However try the new ASPI drivers, it can't hurt. Get them from here.

ASPI acess in NT is very different than in the 9x environment.
AudioCatalyst isnt the best ripper to use nowadays, and it doesnt play well with NT aspi layers.

Give EAC a go, it features much more error correction options (instead of just 'jitter control') and you can hook most, if not all popular external encoders to it. (LAME, OGG, BladeEnc etc)

I run audio cat 2.1 on my XP box and had the same problems ... I dloaded the ASPI drivers and the problem fixed itself .. works well now.

Really, because I downloaded ASPI fix and AudioCatalyst still didn't work for me.

Did you just simply just install the new ASPI fix and that was it or was there more to it?

As far as I can remember, all I did was install the ASPI drivers and rebooted my machine .. next time I started Audio Cat I was able to access the ASPI tab.

Have you tried to reinstall Audio Cat after you installed the ASPI drivers ?

                  hmmmmm

What about uninstalling the drivers .. then installing them again ... or looking for a different set of ASPI drivers .. (if they exists ?)

I'll see if I can find the version of ASPI drivers I am running at home tonite and let you know tomorrow.

Ok ... here we go .. under the system information section of Audio Cat it describes my ASPI drivers as

ASPI for WIN32 VIADSK that is for my XP box

for my notebook I have Win2k as the OS mind you

it says .. ASPI for WIN32 ATAPI

Hope this helps in some way ?

so ive basically noticed the same thing as the person who started this thread. i used audio catalyst running win98 and ripped through cds and encoded them into mp3 no problem. i upgraded to xp home, tried audiocatalyst, had the same analog problem, downloaded the aspi manager, and it made little difference. so i tried out the exact audio copy program that was recommended in this thread and i still am not coming even close to matching the ripping and/or encoding speeds from when i was using 98. are there some settings in eap that im totally missing? quite frustrating...

any and all comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Whats all the fuss about? I don't know much about this software but it seems to me that what it really does it rip your CD's to MP3's.
Well the easiest software i can remember is "MusicMatch" or even M$' MediaPlayer 9.
Now I am curious about this thing. Would you tell me something that seperates it from a good ripper like MusicMatch added with a nice Tag editor?
