More troubles with my xp2100

I rebooted today, and couldnt get into Windows. I eventually got into safe mode, and it still eventually came up with the unforgiving BSOD. Then I swapped mobos, no fix. Swapped psu's, no fix. Then I went to my bios, and set the CPU freg. to 100mhz...Perfect wondows boot, no problems at all, and still is working.

Can someone plz tell me what is going on with my cpu?

Have you tried clearing CMOS and setting through bios your cpu to 2100+ don't user define it on 133...just set it to the pre defined option.

I have had that problem when i go too high of an overclock...is that what happen in your case?

ive tried clearing CMOS and just setting it as an xp2100....The most ive ever oc'ed is to 1820mhz, only 100 from its normal 1733mhz....and Its been running at stock speeds all week. The only thing ive done lately that eats up my cpu time is encoding dvd to mpg......but i dont think that wouldve caused it.

I believe Pcchips boards are based on the same thing as ECS boards or dang similair. If you look around alot and I mean alot of people are having problems running the ECS boards at 133 and the only solution was to RMA them. I hope that this is not what the problem is, but you may wanna look into that. Oh and from my own experiance PCchips boards never ran at the highest rated FSB, sorry man.

Upgrade your memory i much rather have 256 of some PC2700 at least than the pc133 which is choking the heck out of that nice 2100+...but now you've got to upgrade the mobo in order to use DDR... but i am sure PCChips is not something you'll miss when you pop in a EOPX, Abit or ASUS nforce 2 mobo...

In fact there is EPOX nForce Mobo for 88 bucks at new egg..which is the one i ordered to replace my recently messed up Abit.: omg:

I am planning on getting the epox 8rga+ whenever i can find it and ive got the cash. Im also gonna get some PC3200 ddr when i get it. BUT, first ill get a new HSF.......and so on.
I could only afford this at the time, and i guess im gonna see if i can find anything else that might fix it.
ALSO, i must be dumb, but what is rma?

If you are getting the IRQ_... error, the chances are pretty high that it's your motherboard that has gone. I've had similar problems on multiple systems on both Intel and AMD platforms. I just went out and picked up a new board and have been running the same CPU eversince. You may also check your CPU temps, case airflow, etc. It really doesn't matter if you have a cheap case as long as you get some sir in there. What I use to do was bore a hole or two in the side panel and install an intake fan directly on top of the HSF, 40cfm fan with filter(to keep the dust out as much as possible, and an exhaust fan to draw the hot air out. HOwever, don't put them right on top of the other as this will most likely keep the cool air from reaching your HSF and the rest of your system.

I tried another mobo and it didnt fix it. Im beginning to think maybe its something with windows, maybe a driver. I dont have any problems untill windows loads.

Okay, but what board did you use to replace it with. Is there any other hardware in your system that's not listed? Maybe you should trouble shoot other hardware too. I usually get everything down to the bare minimum and then reinstall until I have problems then you know what the problem/s are.

i replaced it with an identical mobo, ended up with two because they screwed up.

what are your voltage readings? that thing ought to run stock fsb even with all that stuff that wiggo doesn't like. If this an ECS clone then it needs full voltage on 3.3, 5, and 12 v rails. The IRQ error is something I get when I am overclocking and vcore is a little low.
