In further preparations of building my dream gaming machine, I have narrowed down my motherboard choices to these two...the nforce2 PRO 400 and the nforce3 PRO 150..what I want to know is how much of a difference is the nforce 3 over the nforce 2
    :?:
    Is it a big difference?

Isn't the nforce3 for the AMD 64? And the nforce2 is for AMD athlon xp? Also i think you are refering to chipsets, not motherboards.(correct me if i am wrong)
So if you are going to buy a AMD 64 then go with the nforce3 chips, if you are going with the AMD XP then go with the nforce2 chips.

I am actually building two systems to compare prices and ratings...but I just don't know how good they are perfomance wise.
The XP system I have has this for a motherboard:
    ASUS A7N8X Deluxe - NVIDIA® nForce2™ Ultra 400 Motherboard
    For my 64 FX system, I have the - ASUS SK8N - NVIDIA® nForce3™ Pro 150 Motherboard
Now ofcourse #3 would be better than 2...but I just want to know how much of a difference it would be...
And keep these two facts in mind: I'm as hardcore a gamer as they can possibly come wanting the best system possible, but I am a youngen with a VERY tight budget

it must not be too tight if you can afford to build an athlon64 system, not to mention a high-end athlon XP ststem right along with it

anyway, there isn't an athlon xp system anywhere that can compare to a athlon64 system. despite the fact you didn't tell us which CPUs you are using or anything else aside from the mobos, i can easily tell you that the athlon64 system will be more powerful. Even more so when it has a 64bit OS and other software to work with.
I've gone too far and need to move on!

I belive the AMD 64 goes for around 400-800, depending on which version. (64 or fx, don't know much about that) But, the AMD 64 smokes the amd xp by a long road. Well...if you got the money, and its your dream machine..go for the AMD 64 instead of asking yourself..."what if". Good Luck. <~~~Soda
