`ive got the athlon 64 3200, and i managed to clock it up to 2.4 ghz at 1.425 volts. how do i mod the VCORE thing?
or is this around the expected speeds?

    http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...g/voltmods/130

Just take a conductive pen and carefully trace where the article tells you to. Clean if off if it connects anything else. Also, a #2 pencil will not be enough (you'll end up needing to redo it regularly), so you'll need to dish out $10-$20 USD for a conductive pen or even solder (though a pen is a lot easier to apply and to clean).

After the mod, you can up the voltage to 1.55V and probably do 2.6 to 2.7GHz. 2.4GHz@1.425v is actually kind of impressive. Are you certain it's stable?

Also, what BIOS are you using?

not absolutly sure, but its been running for days like that now without crashing, and i ran two half hour sessions of prime95 on it fine. two questions: what is the maximum "safe" voltage? and what is the expected (or safe) range of temperatures for my CPU?

i'l run prime 95 for a few hours tonight, for a real test.

Btw, i had it up to 2.5ghz at 1.45v, the max normal voltage allowed, but clocked back because i didnt know how much juice i could safely put through it.
i think the bios was 1.6, cant remember but it sounds about right.
this board, for me anyway, without further clocking, rocks, and ive had no problems whatsoever yet.
    System Specs:
    AMD athlon 64 3200 venice @ 2.4ghz
    Asrock Dual-939SATA2
    Sapphire Radeon X800GTO2 chip r430 @ 480mhz core/540mhz mem with 1.6v vcore
    1gb Corsair XMS TwinX PC3200 timings 2-3-3-6 at 400mhz
250gb Hitatchi deskstar T7K500 SATAII disk
    160gb samsung spinpoint PATA disk
    Asus 1608P2 DVD+/-RW Dual Layer

Safe? That depends on your definition of safe. Unsafe might mean an 80% reduction of CPU life regardless of temperatures (only a result of extreme OCing with extreme cooling systems), or it might mean that the processor simply dies at this voltage. In any case, even modded this board will not allow you to provide a dangerous voltage to any Athlon 64 CPU.

1.45V is certainly fine. You can probably handle that speed with that voltage, too. As long as you don't have heat issues, you'll probably be stuck around there unless you mod the board for more voltage.

You might want to consider using the OC Workbench Beta BIOS 4 (Google it), but if you don't have problems you're fine.

Also, make sure you leave the multiplier where it is. Your maximum "FSB" will be 274 due to a BIOS limitation in everything above 1.2 and OCW Beta 2 (and those BIOSes introduce new problems you might not like). I don't see this as a problem for you, though, as you're unlikely to make it to 2740MHz, especially with a max voltage of 1.55v on modded. The max on the unmodded board (IIRC) should be 1.45V for Winchesters and Venices.

the bios was 1.2, and i might upgrade this if i can be bothered. i aint too bothered any more about overclocking further, its just nice to know you have plenty of untapped speed. i will certainly do the vcore mod, though
