Default Compatible Motherboard with 2.66 ghz cpu

I have a p4 2.66 ghz cpu which MB should I opt for? Would a Gigabyte 945 GSM SL 2 motherboard be compatible with this cpu?

umm ..nope. From what I can see the 2.66 uses the old 478 socket and the mobo you mentioned uses 775. Not gonna work at all. I hate to be the one to tell you but socket 478 cpus are no longer current technology. I don't know if you can still find new motherboards that'll work anymore. You'd prolly be way better off to start fresh with a new cpu.

Look around for a MSI 945GCM478-L or BIOSTAR P4M900M4.
