    Default Newbe OC UD3P with E8500

    Hei,

    I just did my first build and am trying to start over clocking.

    Vista home premium 64
    E8500
    8GB OCZ 1066 DDR2
    GA-EP45-UD3P
    Caviar Black + 4 legacy drives
    Asus 4850 TOP

    I did the install for Windows and loaded the Gigabyte software including ET6. Afer that I installed the software for the Asus. I opened ET6 and switched windows and got a reset. Since then I can't open ET6. Some of you may think this is a good thing, but I'd like to start OC with some hand holding. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but it doen't change (get the Vista permission window then the spinning donut and nothing). On uninstall I get the message that GPU (process ID: 4820) has to be stopped before removal. I've gone into the task manager and stopped the GPU process, but it didn't help.

    Any thoughts?

    Did you install windows updates and the Intel Chipset driver package yet? If not you need to do that first then it should run fine for you.

    If you want to disable Vista permissions click your user image in the start menu, then click turn off UAC and disable it and restart

    And yes, all Overclocking should be done in the BIOS

    Thanks,

    I updated Windows and have the Intel driver installed (checked the Log and also the Intel Utility).

    ET6 is uninstalled.

    Any suggestions for OC settings? I have a (stock) Cosmos case and am using a Xigmatek cooler with a 600w PSU.

    Well.... What would you like to run at? And have you already set some things in the BIOS yourself? I would assume so since you have 8GB.

    Fill this out with what you are using, and let me know what you would like to run and I will try to help ya out >>>>

    I'd like to get about 4MHz with stabilty. I've only tried to get the voltage and memory multiplier adjusted for now (found in a previous thread). So far I'm not seeing changes in CPU-Z.

    What do you mean you are not seeing changes in CPU-z? Did you disabled EIST and C1E?

    I'd seen an earlier post and had tried to do the voltage and memory multiplier first before changing the other settings.

    What I listed is my guess for settings.

    I did not disable the EIST and the C1E.
