Question G sata ports not working

Hi there: Can someone help me with this issue ; I have a Gigabyte Ep45 Dq6 motherboard with a single Samsung Hard Drive 750 Gb and acording to gigabyte manual when you connect a single Hard Drive it should be connected to G-sata ports the purple ones. I did just that but no hard drive in the Bios . It gets recognized in the orange ports but not in the purrple ones. It seems that this ports are dead . Can you run a stable Operating system on this Sata 2 ports? and by the way Bios has been updated to the latest version F13a. This thing drives me crazy because I like the motherboard Anybody's help will be much appreciated .
    Thank you

Ok Firstly your Purple (Gigabyte) SATA ports can be enabled and disabled in the BIOS. Generally its called onboard SATA or something like that. Second, Screw the manual. You should really only use the Purple ports if you have run out of yellow ones. They have been proven slower than the Intel (north Bridge) controlled yellow ports. For your Configuration you should plug your HDD into Yellow SATA 0 port and then all other SATA devices in the consecutive ports after that. Ie 1,2,3,4. I hope this helps.
