I need some advice if anyone has some. I just replaced my P3 motherboard with a Rioworks SDVIA-LS dual processor motherboard (with only one processor - the other is on the way). However, now when I turn the power on it does not even post? The video card is good (it is a PCI) and the only other PCI slot filled is a sound card.

I have checked the memory, the HD, connections and they all appear to be good. Any suggestions?

    Thanx

Is the cpu installed in the lower socket (socket1)? Is the cpu fan plugged into the correct header?

I had it in slot 0 first and then I put it in slot 1. I have not put the fan on it yet since it is such a b**ch to get off. This may be a stupid question, but will not having the fan on the CPU cause it to not start?

BTW, I have no plans on running it without the fan once it boots up.

    Thanks

Most all mobos today need feedback from the cpu fan. If the mobo detects no fan speed from the cpu fan, they shut down to protect the processor. It's a pretty good safety feature really.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to have it looked at tomorrow by a PC shop. Earlier today, my fan shorted while testing the setup and it is now dead so I need a new one anyway.

I will post back what happens!

    Thanks,

I will find out tomorrow and post the results. That would truly truly suck.
