I want to purchase a new motherboard, CPU, and memory. I'm going to get a P4 2.53 and probably an Asus MB. The question I have is, will PC3200 and/or PC3500 work correctly in a motherboard that takes DDR333Mhz? I know that PC3200 is 400Mhz and PC3500 is 433Mhz, but most boards say they support 333Mhz memory. I saw an ad here http://www.ocsystem.com/inp424run28n.html that is using PC3500 433Mhz in an Abit board rated for DDR333. Please explain this whole DDR memory thing to me.

I have been looking at the Gigabyte GA-8PE667 Ultra here - http://www.giga-byte.com/products/products.htm and the Asus P4PE here - http://usa.asus.com/mb/socket478/p4p...ification.htm. Does anyone have one of these boards? Can anyone give me advice about my situation? posted above. Thanks in advance.

PC3200 and 3500 will work fine on a board that supports DDR333. It just means that the ram module is tested to support speeds such as 400mhz in the case of PC3200. It is totally backwards compatible with DDR333, DDR266 motherboards and so on.
The use of buying this faster memory is that when you overclock, you also overclock the memory and video card and PCI slots etc. Therefore you need better memory that can run at faster than default speeds.
