    OK, I have no idea what it is, but keep seeing it everywhere. So can someone point me to a link or something so i can understand the difference between normal and registered kind.

    Registered or Registered Error Checking RAM is a special kind of memory used in server and mainframe computers.

    It also adds an additional cycle to the process (to allow for the error checking) so will actually slow down your machine. Like Tweak said above, it is a real benefit for the server/business networking types, but it blows goats as far as performance users are concerned. Besides, it's more expensive to boot.
