Not to rain on your parade, it was Nvidia, Asus, et. al. that did a lousy job by not providing easy to find information relating to all current monitors that are "3d-Vision Ready". I've spent way too much time trying to find information but later today I'll post the most important information that I found.

I found a recent Newegg review where it said:
I had to have windows set my monitor (Asus VG248QE) to 120hz, not he 144hz I originally was using.
I'll give the most helpful suggestion right now; spend time reading the longest and most detailed customer reviews on Newegg and Amazon.

It might help to download and read the 639 page Nvidia universal installation guide, but don't worry, the guide covers 11 different languages.

My favorite finding was this gem in the Asus VG248 monitor manual:
Only DisplayPort and DVI ports support 3D feature given NVIDIA 3D Vision Kit is available.
This by the way is the full extent of their in depth information about 3D-Vision in the monitor manual.

Don't spend too much time on me. Heading off to work soon, but had time this morning to check out some forums on 3d monitors. Most interesting is the Nvidia community, where I found some recent 2015 threads with the same questions I have about new monitors and 3d support from the manufacturers or great lack of it. After spending a couple hours, it seems the only monitor available now to support Nvidia 3d is the ASUS ROG. With the higher definition. If this is agreeable, will probably just purchase this monitor.

It looks like the Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q monitor is the only monitor that supports G-Sync and is also 3D-Vision ready.
Even without these features it looks like it's one of the best gaming monitors.

Where to Buy G-SYNC Monitors and Modules | GeForce has a list of G-Sync ready monitors.
    G-Sync requirements:
    • Desktop Requirements:
    • GPU: G-SYNC features require an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST GPU or higher.
    • Driver: R340.52 or higher
    • Operating System:
      • Windows 8.1
      • Windows 8
      • Windows 7
    • System Requirement: Must support DisplayPort 1.2 directly from the GPU.

Also see 3D Vision System Requirements | NVIDIA

3D Glasses and Displays | NVIDIA has a list of 3D-Vision ready monitors.
A few of the monitors come with the 3D-Vision kit.
Some of the monitors in the list say:
    • 3D Vision 2-Ready
    • 3D Vision Ready with Lightboost
    • 3D Vision Surround-Ready, 120Hz
    • HDMI 1.4 3D Support, 3D Vision Surround-Ready, 144Hz
    • 3D Lightboost, 3D Vision Surround-Ready, 120Hz
    • Includes 3D Vision Glasses, HDMI 1.4 3D Support, Built-in Emitter, 3D Vision Surround-Ready, 120Hz

It looks like 3D-Vision 2 is the newest version.

Surprisingly I don't see the ROG SWIFT PG278Q monitor in the Nvidia 3D-Vision list.

    From the Rog Swift webpage:
    • The ROG SWIFT PG278Q is compatible with the NVIDIA® 3D Vision™ 1 and 2 kits* to support up to three WQHD displays for immersive multi-display 3D gaming experience.
    • The world's first WQHD G-SYNC monitor with rapid 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time

edit: The best current price is $738 with free shipping from Amazon, B&H Photo and Best Buy.

Going to the ASUS website, the GTX 980 strix. Looking at the specs., says Display Port regular, wonder if it the early version or the 1.2 version?

    From FAQs - DisplayPort

    Q. What are some of the unique capabilities in DisplayPort?

    A. Because of its high data rate, DisplayPort 1.2a systems today can support 4K displays at 60Hz refresh and full 30-bit 4:4:4 color (non-chroma subsampled). DisplayPort 1.3 systems will support 5K displays (5120 x 2880) at 60Hz refresh, and for 4K displays will enable deeper color and higher refresh rates. When enabled with DisplayPort’s Multi-Stream feature, several monitors can be connected to a single output on a video source device (such as a laptop or computer), using a daisy-chain or hub configuration.
They also have information for DisplayPort 1.3 FAQs.

But of course, anytime new hardware is released it's already obsolete.

After your system is up and running, I'll be surprised if your system does not have stellar performance.
