    I cant figure this out..
This mobo has AMD 761 Northbridge
    and VIA VT82C686B South bridge..

It comes with VIA 3 in 1 drivers..
and there doesnt seem to be any newer
3 in 1 drivers anywhere then those on the CD
and their for NT, and im on XP...
I guess they prolly work with XP aswell but still..
    theyre old..

    Should i take a shot a the latest 4 in 1 drivers?
i guess 3 in 1 are the same but without AGP driver..

This is driving me nuts, reason is i got a ratpad and
a Dual optical mouse, i read that the reason they dont
work together is USB related and that they should work
    in 2K but not 98...
So i wanted to update the VIA drivers since they drive the
    USB...

But asus support is goddam ridiculos and the 3in1 are as
    old as the board itself...

Do i dare try the VIA 4in1 or should i try the 3 in1 for NT on
    ASUS support page?
dont wanna screw my comp up (again hehe)
last i tried the 4in1s my HDs where installed as SCSI..
    freaked me out..

Basically the 3in1's are the 4in1's minus the AGP component so if ya just extract the files from the .zip folder and install those others bar the AGP component as that is done with an AMD driver. ;)

i figured so, and in my impatient nature
    i tried it out..
    seems to work ok sofar..
did a ****load of bios tweaks aswell..

still nothing has resolved the Dual Optical
    on Ratpad problem..

Is there any differance in how 2K and XP
    handles USB?
its said that the Dual optical doesnt work
on ratpads in Win98/ME cause of the USB,
but that it should work in Win2K...

Doesnt seem to be much tweaking of the
    USB out there..

Seems pretty mixed results on the combo..
some sais it works just fine and others say
    it doesnt work at all..

Hmmm..... I'm not to sure about that but why use a mousepad with an optical mouse at all?

Have ya been to this site yet, http://everythingusb.com/ , yet as its pretty helpful with USB related matters. ;)

because of the incredible smooth sliding it wields..
hehe belive me I was a sceptic untill I in a coincidence
tried a ratpad when helping a pal with his new machine.
I fell in love, and now after trying it with my mouse my
old regular pad feels like freaking sandpaper..

and its not really expensive either.. 15$ or so..
go and try it out RIGHT NOW!
its a bit odd but after a while your kinda hooked on it..

thx for the link.. ill have a looksee
