The conflict mostly affects the way I run UT2k3. I get around 40fps w/ everything on normal @ 1024x768 and hardware sound. Taking off hardware does very little. My other games run pretty good but occassionally will drop which is strange because the Quake III engine shouldn't be that hard to run on such a beastly card.

I really don't know what to do. I tried playing with the 4X and 8X AGP times setting as well as the fast write in both the BIOS and ATI drivers but all do nothing. I have the latest drivers (DirectX 9) since I have the SDK. ATI has been a bunch of jagoffs and kept sending me to their FAQ guide which I already viewed numerous times.

The only other peculiar thing I've noticied is that if I go to Display Properties > Settings Tab, it says there are two Radeon 9700 Pro's. One says "1. Plug and Play Monitor on RADEON 9700/9500 SERIES" and the other "2. (Default Monitor) on RADEON 9700/9500 SERIES - Secondary". I'm using the first one but I don't see where the second one came from and why it's there. Also, if I go to System Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Display adapters, "RADEON 9700/9500 SERIES" and "RADEON 9700/9500 SERIES - Secondary" are there.

I haven't flashed my motherboard and it currently runs v1.1 and there are two updates. Look at the updates, they don't say anything that applies to my situation. Like I said, I have the latest drivers and DirectX 9 with Catalyst 3.0. The computer didn't run any better or any different with prior DirectX versions.

One last problem with my Radeon would be that in games, I can't put the resolution above 1152x768 without the screen getting "cut off". My monitor supports resolutions up to and including 1600x1200 and I was running a game on that resolution on my old video card (geForce2 MX 400) and it looked beautiful. This Radeon seems to make the image the size of 21" when my monitor is only 19". Even if I adjust my vertical and horizontal viewpoints on the monitor the game just isn't processed over there. It's very hard to explain but is a really annoying problem.

    Any help is very appreciated.

Thank you, I appreciate the replies. What aperture do you think I should put my Radeon 9700 Pro on? I was reading about the oddness of aperture on tweak3d.com and at the moment I believe I have it at 128MB. Any recommendations? I haven't seen any drastic difference when I change it in any game.

There is a pretty good article on the overclocking of the 9700 pro.
