before i get a new board i wanted to run this by you all.

i'm locking up at random points in Direct X games- Hight Heat 2004 and EA MVP Baseball 2003 (used to in Morrowind as well)

ive tried VIA drivers 4.38 up to 4.46. i'm using bios 3.6 on the board. i tried direct x 8.1 and 9, default settings on the radeon and catalyst drivers 2.5, 3.0 and 3.1, removed the SBLive card and in the BIOS tried default settings, high performance settings and almost everthing in between.

anyone seen this? i'm ok in Win XP on everything else. my dual boot to win98 does the same thing.

Everything is fine when i switch the FSB to 100 however. i think its a BIOS setting. i think i need some changes in memory or fsb and multiplier settings -but- i get post errors on my changes- have not tried vcore changes.

temps are ok. 350W PS should hold my 2HD, 2 CD's, floppy, Radeon 3 fans??...maybe not?

    anyway 100fsb everything is fine

It maybe that you have your memory running to fast or set to aggressively, or both.

What it the rated speed of it anyway? :?:

goooood question. given to me by someone. i'll have to check.

i've narrowed it down to memory or psu. settings are lowest.- no interleave, 2.5 cycles etc.

i've been told to check the fluctuations in my voltage as well.

Cheap PSU's can be a major headache if they can't provide at least constant 185W across the 3.3v and 5v rails (I know that they are here).

well the PSU is not Enermax, i'll have to check. looking at the voltage, the 3.3 +5 and +12v fluxuates a bit every 10 or so seconds.

    mostly below-- where i loose betw .04 - .08 on the +5 and +12. 3.3 dips only .02.

all my problems in games occur with the FSB set at 133 and occurs only in games Direct X it seems. i've never been able to overclock this the slightest bit. need to check the core and perhaps unlock it.

and look at my memory speed (on chip) for compatability.
