I just faxed off the PO for a pair of Asus P4C800 MB's ....I need a couple of new CAD boxes at work:

    P4 3.06GHz
1 GIG of Kingston Tech hyper X
    BBA Radeon 9700 Pro
    2 X WD 40GB SE Drives in Raid 0
    Antec SLK3700AMB Case
    - of course I'll have to "burn them in" myself first :flames:

too bad the 800FSB P4's and Radeon 9800's aren't available through my suppliers just yet - but the good news is I'll need 2 more new boxes next month - so maybe I can go that route by then:D

    NIIIIIICE!

Have you thought of utilizing a Distributed Computing program for the burn-in? I recommend SETI@home, because 1) you could contribute some units to the TT S@H team and 2) I, for one, would like to see what the unit processing rate is on a 3.06 P4.

Visit the Distributed Computing section of Beer Garden and my Sig for more info.

Thanks and have a nice day! : peace2:

RDR I'm thinking that it might be too tough of a job for you to burn in both of those units at the same time. Do you want to ship one to Alberta and I'll look after the burning in for you??? I promise to send it back when I'm tired of it!! :devil win

    the 3GHz @ 800FSB chip isn't available here until May 14 - so I had to go with the 3.06GHz @ 533

I've got at least 3 more CAD boxes to make in the month of may - so hopefully I'll be able to get some of the new 3 or 3.2 P4's for them:thumb:

....Oh - & the next ones will have Radeon 9800Pro's too :D

I said the 800FSB P4's aren't available here - in Toronto, I have no idea what the availability is anywhere else ..... & since I really don't want to pay shipping and duty to send a couple of chips half way around the world - i'll wait another week

incidently, 3.06 chips are 533FSB only - the 800FSB equivalent will be 3.00GHz

Nice, when the 800 fsb version comes out here we will have a 32% pricedrop on the 3.06/533 cpu.. And about 30% for the slower 533 ones.. That's insane..

a word of warning about the asus p4 boards, I've been reading alot of forums about cold-boot problems with these boards.

    I just bought a p4c800 and it's having cold-boot problems too.

It takes about 15 minutes for things to heat up enough for the board to work. After that it works fine and reboots in lightspeed times (under 30 seconds)

I've been to about 3 different forums and there are tons of people experiencing this type of problem with asus boards. If you know of another good brand, I would suggest using that.

    Cheers,
    Good luck,

    Brad

I haven't had any problems with the first 2....I have 2 more on my desk to put together this weekend, so we'll see

the only problem I've had is that the MB doesn't get along well with Radeon9700pro's earlier than version xx...x30 - it says something to that effect right in the MB manual & I have experinced it myself first hand
after version xx...x30 is no problem though & these next 2 will have Radeon9800pro's:thumb:
