    Default *NEVER* buy from ibuypower.com

i place an order with www.ibuypower.com on 8/12/07

i recieved the order on 9/9/07, because they "accidentally placed the wrong hardware in my system and had to replace it b/c it damaged other components".

when i got the computer i booted up and nada. called asus the mfg of the mobo, and "we" deemed it the mobo DOA. so i sent the computer back to ibuypower.

still havent gotten it back. called on friday, customer support stated "we replaced the motherboard, the system is in the last hour of the 72 hr burn in test, and will be shipped out today (fri 9/21)". still no email from the company, so i called earlier today. now they say, " the motherboard was not the problem and was not replaced, it was the ram and the hard drive, so we replaced them and will ship the system out today (wed 9/26)". funny thing is, to test the ram, i put the ram into another system that i have and it worked perfectly fine.

is there something wrong with this whole debacle?

    gimme some input.

it could have been ram/mboard incompatiblity - it happens fairly regularly. some types of ram won't run in certain boards but are fine in others - I've had this happen about 3-4 times to me personally.

their customers skills still need work thou.

When it comes to ram, there are no certainties. I have a set of ram that woudl run perfect on my friends Gigabyte DS3. I put it in my DS3 and I have major cold boot issues and problems. Put it back in his board and it is fine. I put my old ram in my board and it is fine. Put my old ram in his board and it works fine.

    thats true i fully understand.
    one problem.
"customer service" stated that every machine goes through a 72hr burn in test.
he also stated that they run 3dmark and some other games on the machines to run them under load.
    apperently it WAS working.

got the system in, STILL F*CKING DOA!
same **** motherboard in the system.
last time i made some small marks with a sharpie on the board and tops of 3 of the capacitors, and there still there.
the company refuses to compensate me for the almost 2 months of waisted time.
the best they are offering to do is 2day air.
    ridiculous.

Avoid this company by all means. I bought a computer from IBUYPOWER.com because my girlfriend suggested them and about three months after that I got a windows error and lost all my data, I had to send it in to be repaired and it promptly broke again, This happened 4 times within the 8 months that I have had it. I then requested my money back and they left me on hold for hours until I had to hang up. This has strained my relationship with my girlfriend and I am now using my 6 year old Alienware that overheats but at least functions better than the IBUYPOWER.com computer ever did. Save your money and pay the little extra to buy from a real company with good customer service such as Dell or Alienware.
